Student Objectives: Move and copy data between applications.; Link data from other applications.; Use the Drawing tools to enhance a worksheet.; Save a worksheet as a Web page.

How is data moved and copied between Office Applications?
1) By using the process of the Cut, Copy, and Paste commands. (Note: Office makes the process easy by adjusting the format of the data being copied to fit the application where it is pasted).
2) The process of copying and pasting between applications is similar to copying and pasting data within an application.
3) How do I do it? Please note, that if you have copied information in Word, that you want to put in Excel, simply select and copy the data, then open the Excel program, next paste the copied data.

What is linking, how is it used, and how do I perform it?
1) Linking is the process of connecting data from a source file (original file) to a destination file.
2) For example, changing or updating data in the source file, will automatically change the data in the destination file.
3) How do I do it? Select the data you want to copy from the source file and copy it, then switch to another document or application and choose Edit, Paste Special, then click Paste link.

How are Paste Links updated manually?
1) All Paste Links are updated automatically, however the user can specify that they be updated manually (or only upon the user's request). 
2) How do I do it?  Choose Edit, Links, when the Links dialog box appears, then choose click Manual. 
3) If I have created a manual link and I want it to update my destination file, how do I do that?  Choose Edit, Links, then click Update Now.

What is the purpose of Drawing tools within a worksheet and how do I draw objects?
1) Drawing tools in Excel are used to insert lines and objects that make the worksheet more attractive and informative. (Ex. A textbox to explain a value in a worksheet, etc.)
2) How do I do it?  Choose the Drawing button on the Standard toolbar.  (Note: The Drawing toolbar often appears at the bottom of the application/program.

How are Drawing objects edited?
1) By clicking the object and then using a button on the Formatting or Drawing toolbars to make any desired changes.

How is Excel data viewed on the Web?
1) Excel data just like data in Word can be viewed on the Web.
2) In order to do this, data must be saved in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) format.
3) How do I do it? To save data in Excel to HTML format do the following:  Choose File, Save as Web page.  To view the data in a Internet browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) do the following:  Open your browser, then choose File, Open, click the Browser button in order to locate your file, then click OK .  Your document will appear in the web browser.  (Note: This data can also be uploaded or published to a website).

How does Excel check spelling in a worksheet?
1) By clicking the Spelling button on the toolbar OR choosing Tools, Spelling
2) Note: Excel uses the same dictionary that is available in Word.

How are worksheets or workbooks sent via email?
1) Excel worksheets and workbooks can be sent via email by 2 ways:  1) It can be sent in the body of an email message OR 2) It can be sent as an attachment file to an email message.
2) How do I do it?  Click the Email button on the toolbar, then if asked, choose whether you want to send the data as a single sheet in the email message body or not.
