Happy Happy Joy Joy
Woo hoo and all that! Oh boy, I'm so happy - found out today I got a big promotion at work. Yee haa.

New Weekly
This week's New Weekly has Tea Leoni on the cover and a story inside accusing David Duchovny of having an affair with Return To Me co-star Minnie Driver.

dreamwatch cover 62Dreamwatch
Issue 62 of UK magazine Dreamwatch finally arrived in local newsagencies today (it was available in speciality shops almost two monhs ago). The issue has Gillian Anderson on the cover, a big nice-looking GA print inside and a pack of six X-Files collector cards from season one stuck to the cover. The issue has a four-page story as well as a story on Chris Carter/Harsh Realm and another on Lance Henriksen and Millennium which returns to channel 7 tomorrow night at 10.30pm. It's a top issue but I just can't force myself to part with the ludicrous $10.25 price.

Weekly Update
Hi, I'm back after another week in Sydney ... and another very quite week as far as X-Files news is concerned. The only thing I've spotted is a reference to The X-Files in last week's review of 1993 in The Sunday Telegraph (listed as one of the new TV shows that year) plus a small bit in Who Weekly about Chris Carter being listed in the Guiness World Records 2000 book as the richest TV writer, earning $81.6M each year.

2000 calendarSome small snippets from ausxfnews:
Kristy says The X-Files Movie will screen on Foxtel next February; Clare says the new Fox President, Sandy Grushow, is keen to see The X-Files return for an eighth season; Fiona says HMV will not be selling The X-Files 2000 Calendar [pictured left]; Gemma says there was a small bit in this week's TV Week about Millennium returning to Channel 7 soon (those five missing episodes); Foxtel's Showtime channel had a preview of David Duchovny's new movie Return To Me.

Updates, Lack Of
Things have gone quiet this week and they'll be even quieter next week as I'll be away from home for the whole week. The next update will be on Saturday, November 27.

Mitch and Arlene Pileggi in Sydney
Nothing much to add - just the jealousy from everybody who missed out on seeing Mitch and his wife Arlene (an X-Files guest star) and their baby in Sydney yesterday. Everyone who's posted to ausxfnews sounds like they had a great time!

Season Seven In Australia
There seems to be no definite date for the Australian premiere of season seven. Every other season has debuted in February but that's no certainty in 2000.

X-Files Musical References
The number of songs that are either inspired by or that mention The X-Files or its stars is quite extraordinary. The latest to jump on the bandwagon is US country duo The Bellamy Brothers who have just released a single called "Don't Put Me in the Ex-Files". David Bellamy says: "The song's about a guy being out all night, but he's really partying with the aliens. It's kind of the classic cheating song, but it's got a twist because he's somewhere his wife would never suspect." In addition, the video, which was shot in Bakersfield, California, (think X-Files Movie cornfields) in a campy Ed Wood style, features The X-Files' shape-shifting bounty hunter, Brian Thompson.

Mitch Pileggi
Also noticed Mitch briefly on a news bulletin of the Fox opening the other night. Lucky Sydney fans get a chnace to meet Mitch tomorrow at the City Grace Brothers store, as if they needed reminding.

Next X-Files Video Release
Woo hoo! The release date for the next X-Files video is January 12 2000, a full month before season seven starts on Channel 10 in Australia. The video comprises the last ep of season 6 and the first 2 of season 7.
From Dark Horizons

... of interest to Sydneysiders
This news piece was snipped by Crystal who also wants to say: Also if you're willing to ask if there are any Sydney fans of the show who would like to see the premiere and other eps of season 7 before February there is a group that meets every month who manage to get their hands on pre-released eps of The X-Files and show them to fans, not sure how they get them but it's well worth the effort, that how I manage to stay sort of up-to-date with the US!!!! If they want more info on the group tell them just to contact me at dkscully@mad.scientist.com

Fox Studios Opening
Nothing much to report from the broadcast last night except a brief glimpse of Mitch Pileggi and a very short interview with Nic Lea. No previous mention that he would be here. Alas, no David Duchovny.

Added Sunday, November 7, 1999

The X-Files season 7 premieres in the US tonight.

Sunday Telegraph
Today's Sunday Telegraph has a few X-Files items. The Sun-Herald has a story on the Fox Studios opening today with a few lines about the X-Files set in the Backlot tour.

Articles Update
As promised, I've typed out the Daily Telegraph article on Mitch Pileggi from Wednesday. You can read it here. I've also added an Ultimate TV (non-spoiler) article on Chris Carter wanting The X-Files to continue beyond season 7 plus a story on an X-Files site (members.aol.com/scullywear) dedicated to Scully's clothes that should apeal to X-T-U subscribers who recenty discussed that very subject !

New Official Site
There's a new "Official Site" for The X-Files. You can access it at:
http://www.fox.com/thexfiles/.

Be warned though, don't look at the season seven (I haven't) because there are sure to be spoilers.

X-Files Contest
Ultimate TV has an X-Files contest where ten people can win a signed script of "The Sixth Extinction" and 250 people can win an XF T-shirt. The only catch is that the contest is limited to the US. Hopefully you all know someone in the States : - ) (Thanks, Jerry.) The contest closes midnight November 7 (US time).

No updates for a few days, sorry - I had a funeral to go to and then I bought a puppy for Kelly and I, so we were spending time with it. It's a beautiful chihuahua named Taco and (believe it or not) she was born on August 9, Gillian Anderson's birthday!!

Happy Birthday
Happy birthday to Kelly -- I never thought I'd find somebody else who was just as crazy about The X-Files       : - )

Mitch Pileggi's Toast Problems
There was a story in today's Daily Telegraph about Mitch Pileggi. He had trouble with some burnt toast in his hotel room and found five fireman in the hall outside his room ready for action! The story also mentions the X-Files set at Fox Studios. [I'll type the story out this weekend and post it.]

... Another Gillian Anderson Song
In the tradition of Bree Sharp's David Duchovny song comes a song called What about Gillian? (Anderson!) by Marcus Krause. You can download it at:

You can read the lyrics here.

Dreamwatch 61
Issue 61 of UK magazine Dreamwatch has finally arrived in Australia (curse the snail mail that takes two months from merry old England to Down Under) but the price is rather steep at $10.25. The issue has some decent X-Files content with a full page of news (mainly David Duchovny's lawsuit); plus a three-page interview with Dean Haglund and for fans of Chris Carter's ill-fated Millennium, a nice five-page review of season three of that series. Personally, I'm still waiting for issue 62 which has Gillian Anderson on the cover, a big GA print and six X-Files collector cards. That'll reach Australia at the start of December. The issue has already been available in specialty shops via airmail but the price ($16.00 +) is ludicrously high (like $10.25 is any better!) Thanks for the e-mail Michael.

If you know of any other Australian-related X-Files news you can let me know by sending me an e-mail. It will be much appreciated and I'll give you credit for the info. Thanks a bunch!
