Episode III - Fall of the Jedi

This page is for Episode III updates.  Please note that the official title for Episode III has not yet been released, therefore, the title "Fall of the Jedi", is not the official title for the film, however fitting it might be.  Anyhow, please enjoy this page and check back often for updates regarding Episode III's pre-production.

What We KNOW about Episode III

The events of Episode III will take place about 2 years following the events of "Attack of the Clones".  It is said that the beginning of the film will feature the final deciding battle of the Clone Wars on an unspecified planet.  We know that Palpatine will seize even more power in the Republic, making its final transformation into the Galactic Empire.  We also know that Anakin will make his decision to become the mightiest of all Sith Lords, Darth Vader.  We don't know what is to become of Padme' Amidala, but we do know Episode III will feature the birth of the twins.

What we THINK WE KNOW about Episode III

(POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD)

This is an exerpt from www.theforce.net containing clues to Episode III, I have added some of my own thoughts on the subject as well.

It is obvious that Padme will be pregnant. Anakin and the Senator were married at the end of Clones and their union will produce Luke and Leia. Anakin will know this, but he will not know there are twins. - I think also that he may not even know about Luke or Leia, I think that they will be born in seclusion from Anakin, and that he finally figures out he has a son after the destruction of the Death Star.

Anakin will say he wants Luke to have his lightsaber at some point no doubt. - Anakin probably makes no such request. I believe that Obi-Wan may pick up the lightsaber after the battle and plans on passing it on to SOMEONE, not particularly Luke, who could possibly rise and defeat the Sith. I think the birth of the twins just happens to be a coincidence to Obi-Wan's plans.

According to the Classic movies, Obi-Wan will be a general and fight under the command of Bail Organa. This has been setup in Episode II, though since SW3 will take place at the end of the Clone Wars it may just be implied and not actually shown on screen. - Early reports specify that the final battle of the Clone Wars will be fought at the beginning of this movie, so we may see Bail Organa and Obi-Wan Kenobi fighting alongside one another.

Obi-Wan and Anakin fight leaving Anakin severly wounded. He takes on the Darth Vader costume for life support, after being left for dead. There's always been persistent rumors of this taking place on a lava location. - All I can say about this is WOW, this will be the defining scene of the Star Wars Saga. Maybe perhaps not a lava location, how about some kind of droid factory or production facility where they use molten metal.

Palpatine already has emergency powers, and will not relinquish them as he had indicated. He now becomes the Emperor, taking absolute control over what not is the Empire. - Palpatine continues to degenerate into the slimeball that he is, however the citizens of the Republic, Palpatine may be revered as a saviour in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. Because of the Seperatist Movement, the established form of government looks bad to the people and in the beginning, they willingly embrace Palpatine as Emperor.

After she is born, Leia is secretly given to Bail Organa to raise. However, she'll be old enough to have some sort of memory of Padme. - I agree with this completely.

Obi-Wan hides Luke from the Emperor and Darth Vader on Tatooine with Owen and Beru. Obi-Wan then hides out near the Dune Sea. This is why the introduction of these characters was so important in Clones. Cliegg Lars will be dead. - I think that Obi-Wan stays close to Luke so he can protect him, even if Owen doesn't want him around.

C-3PO must have a partial memory block so that he forgets being on Tatooine, that Anakin is Darth Vader, and that Luke and Obi-Wan are on Tatooine. R2-D2 may also have some type of wipe as well to prevent memories of his former life. - I agree with this, however I don't think that it is a big detail that they will take time to show in the movie, and if they do, perhaps Darth Vader memory wipes them and sends them on their way.

Padme will die. How or why will be most interesting. - Too much to even speculate about here, I agree that she will die, I am certain that no matter how she dies, it will be in a very heroic fashion.

Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and all the other Jedi will die. Boba Fett could possibly have a hand in killing them. The Jedi Temple will likely be destroyed. - I agree that Boba Fett will kill Mace Windu, Attack of the Clones foreshadows this. I think that Boba Fett will most likely completely disentegrate Master Windu, and Anakin sees this. Hence in Episode V, Darth Vader tells Boba Fett, "No Desentegrations".

Count Dooku will die. This is a must so that Anakin can take his place beside Emperor Palpatine. Anakin may possibly even strike him down to complete his Dark Side journey. - I think this is completely accurate, I see Darth Sidious/Palpatine labeling Dooku as expendable, just as he did with Vader at the end of Episode VI. I think this confrontation will mirror the one in Return of the Jedi. At the end of the lightsaber duel in Jedi, when Vader is laying on the floor and Luke's lightsaber is pointed at him, Vader's hand is up, as if begging Luke not to make the same choices he did. Either way, its looking very grim for Count Dooku, Anakin will most likely want his revenge.

Jar Jar's fate will be wrapped up one way or another. I've always hoped for death at Anakin's hand, but it probably won't be that dramatic. - I can't see how Jar Jar could fit into the next movie at all. In Episode I, his whole purpose was to bring the Gungans and the Naboo together to save the planet, that was his role in The Phantom Menace. In Attack of the Clones, his role contained less screen time, however they made what screen time he had VERY important. He put Palpatine in the position of power. I cannot possibly see what use they would have for Jar Jar in the next Star Wars movie.

Yoda will flee to Dagobah to await a new hope. Since Luke may have a memory of being there, he might make a side trip there as well, maybe Obi-Wan will drop of Yoda on the way to Tatooine. - I agree with this, why else would Luke have that sense of deja vous upon his arrival there.

Somehow Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin receive some sort of training that teaches them how to retain their spirit as a ghost after being killed. - This is a mystery that I am most anxious to see solved.

There are a few other possibilities as well, perhaps we'll see the introduction of a Classic Trilogy character. The early fan favorite would be Tarkin, though we have nothing thus far to really indicate that is happening. - I would hope to see a Chewbacca cameo. Tarkin would be good, as would Mon Mothma.

Perhaps there's one last evolution of clones to stormtroopers, though it remains to be seen if Lucas thinks one final step is necessary for his audience to get the point. No doubt there will be even less customization of ships in this final film, hearkening to the industrial, war-torn look of the Classic Trilogy. - I think that you will see ships and vehicles become what we know them to be in the Classic Trilogy. The Clonetroopers will become Stormtroopers, to signify a new look for the New Order.

As for a new planet, definitely folks want to see Alderaan. And it is possible, since Leia ends up with Bail there, but it is far to early to call it a "given" that we'll see the planet. - At last Alderaan, that's what everyone wants to see, I think this massive final decisive battle of the Clone Wars will be fought on Alderaan, hence by the time the Classic Trilogy arrives, Alderaan has banned weapons because of the massive destruction caused on their world.

And some more of my thoughts on the subject are:

It will be most interesting to see how Palpatine reveals himself as Darth Sidious, particularly since Count Dooku ratted him out to Obi-Wan in Attack of the Clones. Clearly Dooku has his own plans, and maybe wants to overthrow Sidious.

I think that the remenants of the Seperatist Movement become the Rebel Alliance. It would make perfect sense because these are the people who are already fighting Palpatine and his New Order.
