Queensryche - Q2K

Queensryche News

June 1, 2002

Sorry for the lack of udates, been really busy since the end of March with things.  Anyway, on to the world of Queensryche, right?

In May the band announced the departure of guitarist Kelly Gray, they have not made an official announcement on who will be replacing him, but they hope to soon.  New tracks for the album are complete, and they are looking at a fall release for the as yet untitiled album.  Geoff Tate's solo album will be out on Sanctuary Records on June 25, and he will play at the EMP in Seattle June 22 along side Queensryche guitarist Michael Wilton's solo band, Soulblender.  Should be interesting.  Thats about all for now, I will try to keep you posted as more news arrives about the new guitarist.

Of special note today, Geoff Tate posted on the message board on queensryche.com. He mentioned that they are writing the new album and that it will contain a few surprises. Definitely worth checking out.

Word today from the official site that things are going exceptionally well for Queensryche in the studio, that four songs have been written and one of them has finished lyrics and everything. They claim that this is the band's heaviest material ever. Stay tuned.

January 15, 2002

It's been a while since we have updated news and stuff, so here it all I can remember to update from the last several months. First and foremost, the tour last November to support Live Evolution was a huge success, and for the most part, with the exception of the opening night in Phoenix, Queensryche did a kick ass job. Posted is a photo of Geoff, Eddie, and Michael backstage with New York Mets player Mike Piazza, who is a huge Queensryche fan.

Next thing was the release of the "Slave to the System" CD released by that band featuring Scott Rockenfield and Kelly Gray. I haven't heard it personally, however I have heard really good things about it.

Next order of business is the fanclub. Susan and Anita have left the fanclub for personal reasons. The Queensryche Campaign is now being headed by Brandon Cope.

And most importantly, the Geoff Tate band has finished recording their CD and it will head out for mixing in February, in the meantime Queensryche is in the studio recording new music for their next album. This is very exciting news indeed, this will be a BIG year for the band and it's members.

The Three Tremors?

Tate, Dickinson, and Halford. The Three Tremors

A while back, it was rumored that Geoff Tate would be teaming with Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford for a project called "The Three Tremors". However all vocalists in question have has scheduling difficulties to fulfill this project that is the dream of every metalhead in the world. Only time will tell if The Three Tremors will come to fruition and take over the metal world. In the meantime, I found this pic to hold us all over for a while.

The Holy Roaming Empyre

WELL, it's been awhile since I have updated with news, we had some technical difficulties which I seriously hope are ironed out now, maybe, maybe not. So with the Empyre in mind, now all we need is a crime. And with that being said, our Empyre is working on an amateur film version of Operation: Mindcrime. This will be the ultimate project from the ultimate Empyre. I would ask that you check the page titled "Operation: Mindcrime" frequently for updates on pre-production of this very exciting project. After the screenplay is finished, or somewhere near it's completion, we will be casting for the roles that we have to create for the story, as for the pre-existing characters, we are already on the search for them. In the months to come, we will be showcasing our casting decisions, and let you know more and more about this thing.

October 2001

Can you feel it coming? Empyre!!

Well it is October, and I wanted to plan a Halloween Party for the Pacific Northwest Empires, but alas, somebody beat me to it. So here it is early October still and I work in retail. I find it funny, perhaps in some sick sort of way that already my place of employment carries more Christmas merchandise than Halloween merchandise. So with that in mind, I have decided that Another Rainy Empyre should and will host the Christmas Party for the Pacific Northwest Empires. I have spoken with most of the heads of our Empires, Heather, Vickie and Donna, and Lisa, and I want to plan an event that will be both fun and fulfilling for either our community or for our country. In these dark times, it is good to know that the Empires can still come together to help people in need. Right now, there is no greater time of need anywhere in the world than right here in our own land. The blood drive was the beginning of what I believe the Empires can do to help those stricken so hard by this National tragedy. So on with the planning for the Christmas Party, and I hope to hear from everyone soon.

September 2001

Before the dark times. . . before the Empyre.

Long ago, I used to believe that a fan didn't have to be in the fan club to prove his or her worth. A fan was only somebody who listened to the music and maybe saw the band once or twice live. Well I want to be the first to tell you that being a fan is more than that. I feel that fans have a responsibility to do certain things for their favorite band. Things were simpler in those days, the band put out a CD, I bought it and everyone lived happily ever after. Well, such is certainly NOT the case. Bands quite often rely on their fans to spread the word of their new releases. Look at us, the customer, as being the ones who are also the band's employer. It is up to us to make certain that the band has a career, another album, and a tour. It is our hard earned dollars that allow them to put out their product to us. Without us, the fans, Queensryche would be another band playing in a bar for tips.
With that being said, I want to talk promotion. Recently, Another Rainy Empyre has joined the Sanctuary Street Team and opted to hand out promotional materials such as stickers, posters, and the like. Colin at the Campaign recently posted a new letter to the Empires which stated that they would be sending out new material for which to promote the simutaneous releases of Live Evolution and the RE-release of Operation:LIVEcrime, both being released on CD on September 25. This is a time to show that we are the band's employer. Without us, Queensryche couldn't thrive and continue to mass produce the music that we all love so much.

July 2001

The Empyre Strikes Back!!!!!

This is the month that Another Rainy Empyre will begin it's return to the fold. Several elements have put our Empre on hiatus the last year, however, we are beginning to get back on track. Five of us, all unofficial members, Pat Lippy, Joe Bennett, Bryan Moon, Laura Ferguson, and Myself had the privilege of attending the concert at the Moore Theater in Seattle on July 27th. We are now beginning to kick around ideas regarding which direction to take our Empyre. If you live in the Cowlitz County area, and would like to join the ranks of the Empyre, please feel free to drop me an e-mail and I would love to get in touch with you.
