Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
After the Rebel's victory at Yavin 4, things just keep going wrong for them. Forced from one location to another, the Rebels establish their new base on the ice world of Hoth. Luke Skywalker has a near-death experience with an ice monster, and at the brink, is instructed by the late Obi-Wan Kenobi to go to the Dagobah System to learn from Yoda, the greatest of all Jedi Masters.
It isn't long before Darth Vader's Imperial fleet discover the base on Hoth and the Rebels are forced to evacuate. The Rebels hold out against the Empire during a massive ground assault and are spread to the far corners of the galaxy. The Empire hires the bounty hunter Boba Fett to capture Han Solo and Princess Leia so Darth Vader can use them as bait to lure Luke Skywalker to him.
Luke goes to Dagobah and trains with Yoda, but is prematurely called away to rescue his friends on Bespin when they are betrayed by Han Solo's friend, Lando Calrissian. Han Solo is placed in Carbon Freeze and given to Boba Fett to deliver to Jabba the Hutt.
Young Skywalker arrives and his confrontation with Lord Vader begins. The duel ceremoniously ends with Vader telling Luke his true identity, Anakin Skywalker, Luke's Father.
The fifth chapter in the Star Wars Saga is a richly complex character driven story supported by a plot that is fast paced and intriguing, and considered by many to be the best in the series.
