In 1994, rumors circulated concerning the "death" of Fernando Dos Santos in Mexico and the American border. While no one is sure of where these rumors started, they add an interesting postscript to the saga of this unique matador and empresario. While North America had him "dead," he was very much alive and still active as a promoter in Portugal; but with Portugal being a world unto itself as far as bullfighting goes and news sometimes hard to come by on the opposite side of the Atlantic, he was and is, as of this writing, still alive and active. Truth is stranger than fiction.
