This is my fourth 120 Ultra Stick to play with. I'm getting pretty good at it! Here is a rundown of the modifactions done on this one:

Mechanical modifications:

  • Move JR 4735 servo to the tail, install Aluminum arm, and carbon/titanium rod.
  • Employ the use of Sullivan Giant scale control horns.
  • Convert Rudder to Pull pull, use a H9 Pull wheel
  • Build new CF servo tray, Relocate new tray forward in compartment.
  • Reglue/reinforce fuse with Aeopoxy (Loctite/Hysol) adhesive.
  • Move Hitec MG micro throttle servo to behind firewall to eliminate slop.
  • Create Fuel tank/compartment hatch.
  • Convert Rudder tailwheel to stronger, longer, Haighes style steup.
  • Double bevel vertical stab, horizontal stab, and wing trailng edges.
  • Install pinned Dubro hinges.
  • Seal all surfaces.
  • Lighten Rudder/stab, and install antenna tube through fuse, and up inside vertical stabilizer.

Home made Carbon/balsa sandwich composite sheet, H9 wheel, Hitec receiver secured with Velcro, JR chargeswitch. Tray moved forward to help with the tailheavy nature of the 120 Stick. This rudder setup, at full 50 degree throw, has virtually NO slack or slop in the cable. Very positive control

Saito 180 mounted. Also the canopy hatch. PowerfLite 1800 two cell pack is wrapped in foam, behind firewall. Hitec HS85 BB metal gear servo on throttle. 24 oz tank, and Sullivan filter.

The lightweight carbon fiber landing gear from TNT products. Also the Dubro 3.5" wheels.

A close up of the Haighes style tailgear, and mount. Very smooth. This also will keep you from hitting the tail when you try tailtaps.

Close-ups of the tail mods. Sullivan horns, Central Hobbies CF/titanium rods, Kevlar cable, etc...

Lightening of the Rudder. Took an ounce out... Every little bit counts.

All connections for the ailerons... They plug directly into the receiver. Coiled so they wont tangle with anything.

A shot of the aileron servo hookups. Neat, clean, and solid.

The finished product! When recovering, all the stock black Ultracote was replaced with H9's Carbon fiber look Ultracote. Time for some 3D!
