Celebrate Diversity

Close your eyes and imagine a world where everything was the same color, every song was the same, No beautiful Autumn colors, all voices alike, all birds the same octave...
That's what a world that denies diversity would look like!

Celebrate Diversity!

"Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless,
tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

I recently watched the movie "Remember the Titans" with Denzel Washington portraying Coach Herman Boone  again. This film is based on the true story of Coach Boone's career as Head Coach at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va., in 1971. At that time racial tensions were high, after 3 schools, 2 black and 1 white, were being integrated.
Bill Yoast, the former head coach at Hammond High School, who most folks assumed would get the job, was passed over during this selection, and made assistant to Coach Boone.
The movie has to pack in a remarkable amount of emotions, tensions, and struggles. Not only of the two men and the adversities they face, but of the prejudices of the city, and of the players who were to have probably the most memorable football season of their lives, ending perfectly 13-0. Not only State Champions, but heroes each one in their efforts to join together as a team.
While the movie takes some liberties, like the timing of Gerry Bertier's accident, and the choreographed "dance" the Titans opened their games with, it's still a very, very good movie, one to watch with your kids, and will inspire you to Stop the Hate!
