MY MOTHER
BETTY MARIE TOWNSEND

This is my mother. Betty Marie Eckert Townsend
She was born in Kentucky on June 14, 1921. Over time Her mother, Grace Eckert and her father Floyd Eckert had two siblings for her to befriend.
Mom was the first born and then came Alice and Bill. Alice has since left these earthly boundaries as well as Mom. Bill and his wife Maude also have departed our world but lived happily in the North. Alice and Rogers' children Tom and Shelly survive Alice and her husband Roger. As for mom?
Well she accomplished a few upbringings of children as well. Her first born was Penny, second born was Cyrus and I am the third. Mom lived in many different places in her lifetime including Oregon, Michigan, Indiana, and her final living place was Florida. She always had a special place in her heart for Florida. I am sad to say my heart did not hold that for Florida.
However Alaska does. Mom was never the coddling kind of mother but made sure we knew she could be counted on if needed. She was a math whiz and also very handy building things, such as the kitchen cabinets in our farmhouse.
I saw them start from plain sheets of plywood and be made into beautiful full cabinets with doors and fancy hinges. LOL I never saw her fail in anything she tried to accomplish. She was strong willed and yet willing to see reason in most cases. I am saddened that my mother never got to know Elizabeth since she passed on before her birth yet my daughter carries my mothers middle name. My mom would be proud of Elizabeth for making her education her top priority. Since mom is no longer around to say it I will be presumptuous and say from her to her granddaughter Elizabeth Great going Elizabeth. Although mom and I did not always see eye to eye she is still my mom and I love her still as deeply as the day she left this earth!
Elizabeth and Patrick and I all carry my moms love of animals as you could probably tell from the animal page! LOL Mom never turned away a strange animal in need of help or a home. Which is probably why we had to move to a farm to hold them all! LOL

This page will probably change frequently as I remember things in my past so please do come back soon to visit.

From Sarah & Patrick: We miss and love you dearly Mom (grandma)!!!!!
