Egg-citing KIIDS Labs!

Kids Involved In Doing Science

Egg in a Bottle

PROBLEM: Can you get the egg into the bottle without physically pushing it in, using only the materials on the table?

PREDICT: What do you think will happen?

TEST AND OBSERVE: Follow these steps and write down your observations.

1. Set the egg on the opening of the bottle (pointed side down). It is too large to fall in.

Take the egg off the top of the bottle.

2. Have the station student guide light a strip of paper and drop it into the bottle.

3. Immediately place the egg- pointed side down- onto the bottle opening.

4. Watch the results. What happens to the flame? What happens to the egg?

CHALLENGE: Can you get the egg back out of the bottle without breaking it?

CONCLUSION: What did you learn? You will write a conclusion statement in the classroom.
