I believe that animals have emotions and, therefore, souls.
It is my hope that those animals I was deeply bonded to will be waiting for me when I get to Heaven.

Redford was playing hide and seek a bit too late in the evening, when he was surprised by a coyote in the summer of 2001.  We never found his body, although we searched the desert near our home.  He was my sweet Bubba boy, although he was a bad boy sometimes, like teaching Tyler to chase Jessie, or showing her how to climb a tree and then leaving her up there!

Jason Humphrey Hugo

Redford's big brother, Jason, seen above on the left, passed away in July of 2004 at the ripe old age of 18.  Jason was known as the 16 Ton Cat, the Couch Cushion or Couch Potato Cat and also as the Cog, because he often seemed to be more dog than cat.

Redford Raymond Oliver

He had a love/hate relationship with Tyler, but, considering everything he was a pretty good big brother to her.

Amanda May Marguerite

Amanda, affectionately nicknamed Demanda by Don, was found under her favorite bottlebrush bush by a local dog and had her neck broken in December of 2004.  She was 16 years old at the time.  It seems awful quiet around here without her constant complaining, especially when we have chicken, her favorite treat.  However, she is no doubt enjoying her new, pain-free existence.

Jessica Amber Ashley

Jessica died at 19.  After a lifetime of health, she suddenly began losing weight and then stopped eating much more than a bite at a time.  We took her to the vet as an emergency measure and learned that her abdomen was full of tumors and that her time would be short.  Rather than leave her suffering, as she was by this time having trouble breathing as well, I held her and comforted her as the vet administered a shot and she slipped away. Jessie was such a sweet natured cat.  She loved cilantro, cantaloupe and her pink furry mousey.  She was also the only cat I ever had who would play 'fetch."  She was always a petite little thing, in contrast to Jason, and she had a little chirrup of a meow.

Also missed are our two rats, Anna & Bella,
who passed away in June and July of 2002.
