the best spring break EVER
happy st. patrick's day! be sure to pinch people if they're not wearing green- this is supposedly just a west coast tradition, but it's fun, so the east coast should start as well.
so, last week was spring break. and it was the best EVER! i had such an
amazing time. it was the perfect blend of relaxation and fun. i drove up
to massachusetts on saturday with
neil.
emily
let us use her car for break, since she was lucky enough to be going to
italy. so the road trip up was fabulous- good weather, good music, good
coversation- and the discovery of one of the most amazing rest stops! that
gave us burger king crowns! we took lots of pictures, and had an all-around
great time. i spent sunday and monday in boston. i spent all of sunday with
shawn,
cooking and eating a macrobiotic vegan meal with his housemates. and we
spent the whole time talking. we sat in his room after dinner and just
caught up until midnight. talked about our lives, where we want to go,
everything. he gave me a tarot card reading, which was enlightening. shawn
is definitely someone who will be in my life for a long time to come- and i
am willing to put the effort into making sure that happens.
so, tuesday neil came and picked me up in boston, and i spent the rest of the
week at his house. we had so much fun. we went romping around a sculpture
park, we went bowling, to movies, cooked incredible meals, got a free dinner,
hung out with his friends, took long walks through parks and cemeteries,
watched lots of tv, and spent good time lounging. i really love the
relationship neil and i have. it's full of energy, fun, we love being around
each other, we allow ourselves to be totally silly, yet we are truly
wonderful, good friends to each other. we can talk about so many things- i
feel like it's such an open, healthy friendship.
so i was in byfield, massachusetts until saturday, when neil and i road-tripped
our way back down here. i really do think this got the award for the best
spring break ever. last year's southern trek was definitely the most
adventurous, but it was also tiring. and i really feel that i relate best
to people one-on-one, not in a group. it was a great group of friends last
year, i love them all dearly. but i'm not sure i knew any one of them
any better after the trip. i know more about neil now, definitely.
so it's tough being back at swat after such a nice break, and neil and i had some withdrawal issues for the first couple of days back. but we're good now. i start my research at the jersey shore on sunday, which i'm looking forward to, though it has been snowing today, and field work on the coast, in cold wet weather can have the potential to be miserable. but i'm planning on having fun- just dressed warmly, i guess.
hmmm... so, that's kind of where i'm at and where i've been. i'm glad it's friday, though i have no exciting plans for the weekend. oh, i've been invited to the "women's kissing party" on saturday night, which right now is a big ol' maybe. i'd really like to know who was on the invite list. saturday night there's also an ml freshman '96-97 reunion, which definitely has potential. i'd really like to go out for st. patrick's day, but i guess i'll have to wait and see.
