All That's Sacred
Here is a list of all of the recent updates to All That's Sacred:
5 May 2003
- Over the past few weeks, I've been working on a major re-write of this entire site.
While it doesn't look different from the outside, the guts of the entire site have
changed -- everything has been redone in PHP using
an SQLite backend.
To see the new site, head to http://216.94.11.238/~jay/.
Things will look the same, but there are more links to be found all over the site. For instance,
click on a person's name and you get their biography, a list of songs they've written and
discography entries they've appeared on. Click on a song and you'll get the lyrics as before,
but if you click on the song name on the lyrics sheet you'll get all of the discography items
that song has appeared on. There's all sorts of craziness like that throughout the site.
Comments on the new functions and such are welcome. Email me
if you have some.

- The Buffalo show was pretty rocking, despite being stopped and hassled at the border.
Hey, US Customs: just because you're going to a rock concert and have long hair doesn't mean
you're a fuckin' pothead. Sure, racial profiling is a no-no, but you can still stereotype the
fuck out of whoever you want, eh? I guess it's my fault for not cutting my hair to military
spec any more...
With that nastiness out of the way, here are some additions...
I think that's it.

11 Nov 2002
- Added a Discography entry for
the Riot Act,
as well as all of the lyrics. Apparently
Future Shop is having a release-day bonanza of some sort, and the album will
be selling for $11.99 for one day only. Or something.
- It's Remembrance Day/Veterans' Day. Enjoy the freedom.
23 Oct 2002
20 Sept 2002
- Just making note of the fact that I've fixed up the site to be HTML 4.01 compliant.
(Transitional, of course, not strict.) There might be a page or two I missed, but
hopefully they're all done.
In other news, can't wait for Riot Act...
11 Jun 2002
- Not much to report, but I figured I'd say congrats to Twigg and company. They're throwing their major-studio-signing-type-party-thing
tonight in Mississauga, and it should rock. For a demo Twigg track, see below.
I hope Sony doesn't destroy me for having it posted here lo' these many months,
but Tom et al are cool enough that they wouldn't try to lawyer the fuck out of me, would they?
Anyways, if you're at the party, I'll see you there.
In other news, the new Hip album, In Violet Light, comes
out today, too. Wicked.

- This update has absolutely nothing to do with Pearl Jam, but here's the deal -- for the past year or so, my friends and I have been going to a bar in and about Toronto called the Fox & Fiddle. On Monday nights, the bar has something called "Jam Night" and it rocks face. Jam Night features the Tom Barlow Band, which features, uh, Tom, and an ever-changing motley crew of talents (and every once in a while, untalents), from guitarists and drummers to singers and insane showmen. (... Doug.)
Anyways, Tom is also part of a project called Twigg, which is basically his stage name, from what I can gather. He recently won a whack of awards, which I'll totally not mention here because you can find out that jazz on his site.
His first single made it on Toronto's The Mix 99.9's Top 10 list, which is damn fine. An mp3 was made available on the Mix's website, which I'm reproducing here for posterity. I honestly doubt Tom would give me a hard time over this sort of thing because he's damn cool. I don't really know him except for to see him at the Fox, but based solely on that and the fact that he and his band Rock the proverbial Casbah, I'll do some word of mouth and say that the first single is worth the download.
Click here or here to download Twigg's first single, 'Married By Elvis (Girl Celebration)', featuring Slush on that hard core reggae sounding stuff. (Slush is also a Fox regular.)
Enjoy.

- News - Q107, Toronto's premiere classic rock FM radio station, will be playing a Pearl Jam show as part of it's "BBC Presents" series or something to that effect. I don't know the concert date, but the show is apparently from London, circa 1993. Hell, I don't even know the exact time and date, 'cause when I heard the radio announcement I was just getting up and still had the sleep goblins in my eyes, but people are saying 10 PM EDT, Sunday, June 17, 2001.
If you're outside of Toronto or Q's broadcast range, the show will likely be cybercast at Q107.

4 May 2001
- News - as I'm sure most of y'all know, Pearl Jam's cover of 'The Kids Are Alright' from the 2000 tour (show unknown) will be appearing on the otherwise crappy-sounding Who tribute record.

- Misc. - This isn't a huge thing, but I've decided to say "Fuck you, Microsoft, and your Hotmail service, too." After reading some rather disturbing things about their terms of service (which I clicked-through years ago before Hotmail was owned,
or assimilated, by Microsoft), I've decided to get the hell out of Dodge. I'll still be checking my
former account at Hotmail sporadically, but from now on, I've decided to
go with Hushmail. I like the encrypted sessions and such,
and they guarantee that they won't be sending my personal info to other companies and such.
So, my new email from here on in is dark_panda@hushmail.com. Not a big change from the outside, but a big change in terms of the service.
21 Mar 2001
- Other - A couple of additions to the PJ FYI page of abbreviations, courtesy of Kenny Ramone (who I'm sure was the ninth member of the Ramones) and Jamp711@*.com. Thank you both much.
18 Feb 2001
- A whole ton of updates for today, including a revamp of the navigation scheme and some
tweaks to make thigns look nicer. I've also included the following updates:
- Discography - An entry for the North American 2000 tour leg 1 boots. I might as well add the leg 2 entry as well, eh?
- Lyrics - Entries for all of the new songs played during last year's North American tour, including...
I'm considering including 'Daughter' tags eventually, but not quite yet.

- ACC Stuff - Another whack of updates:
26 Sept 2000
- Lots - A whole whack of updates in celebration of the official
bootlegs, released today in stores. Check out:
And rejoice.
24 Sept 2000
- Misc. - Just a few odd updates here and there.
I'm going to mention that since the bootlegs come out on Tuesday in stores, I'll be making a crazy-ass update that'll contain more or less one big discography entry for the works of them. I don't know what I'm doing yet, but it will get done.
26 July 2000
- Misc. - Just got wind that TicketMaster has released a new block of tickets to October's Toronto concert. The tickets are behind the stage if anybody's interested, and cost $50.75 each when purchased over the Internet. (Cost may vary depending on outlet.)
22 July 2000
- Other - For some imexplicable reason, I didn't
do anything for the Commodore show in May. Here it is.
- Other - And since you're all dying to know what else
I listen to, check it out...
21 July 2000
13 July 2000
1 July 2000
- You've undoubtley heard the news about Roskilde, so I won't go through it again. The opening page change doesn't seem like much, but I really don't know what else I can do.
10 May 2000
- Lyrics and Discography - To celebrate the release of Binaural, I've updated the disco and added the lyrics.
- Misc. - I've also made several incremental changes to various files around the whole site.
10 May 2000
25 Apr 2000
- Very Important Stuff - According to many of the music stores I've visited today in Toronto, the single comes out on the 27th, not the 25th, in Canada. That sucks.
- Also - Open up this page and leave it running all day as a reminder of... uh... something or another...
- Discography - To celebrate the
release of 'Nothing As It Seems', I've added a discography entry...
- Lyrics - ... and, of course, the
lyrics to go with it, along with 'Insignificance'. A special shout out goes to Rich Wilson and Solace for filling in a few of the blanks I had. ("Play C3" and "Human's eye rolls in" -- you don't want to know what I heard.)
10 Apr 2000
- News - A few more album tidbits.
- Misc. - If you'd like to hear the new single from Binaural, head to Tenclub.net.
05 Apr 2000
- News - A very small correction about the upcoming album release date. Nothing all that amazing.
30 Mar 2000
- News - A few corrections to some dates and a link to a track listing.
20 Mar 2000
- News - Some really bitchin' news about upcoming tour dates from the Synergy Rumor Pit. In case you've been living in a cave, Pearl Jam has announced a European/US/Canadian tour to promote their new album, Binaural. Here are the Canadian tour dates...

up with...

- Navigator - For anyone who
uses this site with any amount of frequency, you might find this little Java applet I found to be of some use. It ain't for the faint of heart, but if
you're Java-equipped and if you're quick enough, smart enough, and if you've got the guts, try it out.

13 July 1999
15 June 1999
8 June 1999
- Discography - Since
'Last Kiss' seems so popular
these days, and since Pearl Jam released their single today, I guess I might as well
update the ol' discography with an entry...
25 May 1999
- Discography - Finally
got around to making an entry for place/date.
If you want pictures from the book and stuff, check out Synergy's page,
'cause I don't wanna infringe any copyrights anymore than I already do.
10 May 1999
29 April 1999
28 April 1999
- News - You know that
'Last Kiss' song
we've all been hearing on the radio so much lately? Wanna own it
without giving your soul to some eBay
bastards? Then read on...
27 April 1999
- News - Again, this isn't
really true Canadian news, and you may have heard it already, but...
- Other - I just updated the
biography section the other day to
reflect the fact that Jack is history and Matt is now da man.
24 March 1999
17 March 1999
- Okay, so this isn't much of an update. In fact, I haven't really done
anything to the site in over a month except add some cascading style sheets
and stuff. I just thought I had better post something here to let everyone
know that I'm still committed to working on this page and providing Pearl Jam
lyrics as soon as the band releases something!!
In case you're wondering about the lack of updates, it goes something like
this -- the band has been on break for a little while, so I am too. But
don't worry -- the moment they're back in action, so am I.
By the way, doesn't it suck that they didn't win any Grammies? Yes, I
know they're useless paperweights, but it still would've been nice to
hear Eddie give another speech, eh?
15 Feb 1999
- About - Have you ever wondered who it is who owns
and maintains this site (as I'm sure you've all pondered this on many an occasion)? Well, here's
your chance to find out.
- Misc. - In case you haven't notice, I haven't really been updating the site all that
much over the past few weeks. Well, actually I've been updating like crazy, but you probably
haven't noticed. Y'see, there's two reasons for this sudden drop in updates. First of all, the band just
hasn't been doing much over the past few weeks -- they're on a break, and it's well-deserved. And second
of all, as I said, I have been updating the site -- I've been converting all of the pages in the site to
implement cascading stylesheets. Yes, it's an amazing process, and one you won't even notice unless
you care to observe the changes to the source for the site, but if by some chance I get bored with
the look of the whole joint, I can easily redesign it all simply by changing the standardized stylesheet
applied to the entire site. Neato!
