management tools using Java.
Projects Undertaken
1. Sharekhan
Sharekhan is one of the premium on-line trading sites in India maintained by M/s
SSKI Investors, Mumbai. The web site provided facilities for placing share transaction
orders through the net, and provides other convenient tools like Portfolio management, and
relaying of messages through mail or through mobile phones. The site also had a Risk
Management module which would analyse a share transaction before it actually gets
executed. There is a Customer Information System used by the client for internal house
keeping. The site has effectively put to use the latest of Java technologies like, EJB,
JMS, Servlets and JSPs.

My Role: I was involved in the design and development of the utilities module. This module
included the portfolio management screens and its back-end processes, and also an Alert
Processing Engine. The portfolio module had its own set of JSPs, Servlets and EJBs,
through which the latest portfolio details could be displayed to a customer. The Alert
Processing Engine was a scheduled process which would send small messages to a customer
either through an e-mail or as an SMS message on his mobile phone. I was also involved in
the
design and implementation of the Cash Transfer module, which allowed a customer to
transfer cash from his personal account, to an SSKI account. The module included JSPs and
Servlets and also interacted with third party banking web sites (like GT Bank, and HDFC).
I was involved in the development of the Customer Information System, which was used as
internal house keeping module.
2. Office.com
Office.com is an E-commerce site which gives latest Information and News on a variety of
subjects, to its registered customers. Apart from this it also provided its customers with
facilities like free E-mail addresses.

My Role: I was involved in the development and maintenance of the Customer Information
module used for internal house keeping. The customer information module used JSPs and EJBs
for maintaining and updating the customer information. The client was using a legacy
system to maintain the call center information. The legacy system and CIS module was
integrated using an Applet.
3. Upbeat
This software was an in-house project used for keeping track of working hours of
each employee. Oracle was used as a back end, and Java Servlets and Java Server pages
forming the Front end. The interaction between the modules was done using CORBA. The GUI
was purely HTML based, so that the software does not need any client side installation.

My role: I was involved in the development of a general purpose applet, which was used by
the various HTML screens to display data in different formats. I was also involved in the
development of the JSP and Servlets which generated the HTML pages.
4. Chain (Charting the Internet):
This package entirely developed in Java (using 3D Java and Swing class libraries) will be
able to create a 3 Dimensional map of the various Autonomous System and the inter
connections between them. With the help of this tool, the user can find the connections
between Autonomous Systems and well as information on a particular Autonomous System. The
program also uses Java RMI methods extensively.

My Role : Designing and implementation of the GUI using both Swing and 3D Java class
libraries. I also did the documentation work of the project in HTML and JavaDoc.
5. Eco-Netskate:
This package will be able to graphically display the network traffic on a network during a
given time. The package will be able to check the movements of the data packets, identify
its type and then represent the traffic rate graphically. There was also the Status
Display for a router, which will be able to graphically display the status of the ports in
the specified router. The status included information on the Port, and also whether the
port was in operation or not.

My Role: Developing the Router Status Display. This included the polling of the Interfaces
and the creation of the GUI.
6. Amar Jawan
A site of remembrance for the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who have laid down their
lives for the nation. This site was developed in ASP, and used an SQL Server as the back
end. This site has search features based on the various Armed Forces units, Conflicts and

My Role: Development of the ASP pages, and assisted in the design of the database. Also
developed a Java applet through which information can be fed into the database.
7. Bharat-Rakshak
The site stands a true portral site for of the Indian Armed Forces. The site does not
contain dynamic data, but has upto date information regarding the various aspects of the
Defence Forces. It also has a Discussion Forum, and an on-line Book Shop. Visit the site
