Miles and the Equator

I have dealt with Miles and other interesting units at this web site

Earth, Pi, Miles and Barley corns

But will pop in here another surprise.

Take a square of 10 million p square units, and with it's diagonal as a diameter, draw an escribed circle. This will have a circumference of 24902.31984.. units. Now check up  on Earth's latest satellite figure for the Equatorial dimension, and you'll find it is recorded as (WGS 84) 24901.47.. MILES, a difference of .84984.. miles. This is 2.155 inches per mile, the thickness of two thumbs, the line marking on a tennis court, and would amount to less than the radius of the Earth on a distance from here to the Sun.
Now using Earth's diameter (my units) as the hypotenuse of a 30°/ 60° triangle, double the area of this triangle ( i.e. area of  rectangle), and it will be found to be

27206990.46.. sq. miles.
(10,000,000 M sq. miles)

Thus the Mile, our Statute Imperial Mile, has been nigh on a perfect Earth measure for hundreds if not thousands of years, just sitting unrecognized in the background whilst  Metric measure was being forced through.

Archaeological sites and artifacts measured in Metric units, and which are not converted to Imperial units, must cover up a host of mensuration treasures. It has now become a criminal offence to use Imperial units of weight (derived from units of length), and soon our customary birth right of feet and inches etc. will follow them.

Note:
For more information on Earth's circumference at the equator, and how it has been defined, not measured, see Gerard P. Michon's 'Units & measure' to be found at http://numericana.com

INTERESTING MATHS

The ROTATIONAL speed of a spherical Earth at ANY latitude   in 'Feet per Second' is
              a.    the circumference of the Earth at that latitude divided by 16.36363636+
              b.    this 'feet per sec', divided by 2.715095129+, produces a number which is 1/10th of the inscribed square in Miles, at that latitude.
              c.     2.715095129+  ´ Ö 2 = 3.83972+
             d.     Any DIAMETER in MILES, multiplied by 12, will give the number of 3.83972+ FEET in 1 degree (360 in a circle). and thus one can say that:-
4320 ´ Miles in diameter of circle / by any number of degrees in a circle
will give the number of 3.83972+ feet in 1 of those degrees.
And Finally:-
                        1.    Stonehenge diameter (60 sqrt3 ft.) in Miles = .019682395 miles.
                                                            ´ 360  = 7.085662394+
                                                            ´   3.83972+ = 27.20699046+ (familiar number?)

                      2.   Stonehenge diameter (60 sqrt3 ft.) in Miles = .019682395 miles.
                                             ´ 4320  = 85.02794873+
                                                            ´   3.83972+ = 326.4838855 = 120 MY = Sarsen Circumference
                           3.           3.83972+ ´  4320 / 5280  =  p

( So where does the 2.715095+ come from? Well, with a square with sides of 10 miles, inscribed in a circle which rotates once in 24 hours (86400 seconds),  the rotation speed will be 10 Ö2 p ´ 5280 / 86400 = 2.715095+ fps., and if it were rounded up to 3 sig figs, it would be another candidate for a Megalithic Yard ).
