LAYING
DOWN OUR LIVES IN LOVE
John, in speaking of love in 1John 3:16
says that we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. We lay down our lives not always having to prove we’re right,
by not always having to have the last word, by being willing to let a person grow in the truth so he can see things more clearly.
Jesus lived his life as a servant even though He was the deity (Phil. 2:5-8). Can you likewise humble yourself to someone
who does not have all the knowledge and revelation you have?
Though there’s much more, let me share this one last thought with you from this great book. Look over 1John 4:1-13.
Verse 1 tells us to try the spirits to see if they are God. He gives you a few thoughts to help you understand what are the
spirit of Truth and the spirit of error. Us Spirit-filled Christians used to go crazy trying to discover “what spirit
you are of”, but we missed the whole point. If you keep reading, he strengthens his thought by saying, “LOVE is
of God; everyone that loveth is born of God AND knoweth God. He that loveth not KNOWETH NOT God, for GOD IS LOVE”!!!
How did we miss it? To try the spirits to see if they are of God is to look for the love! To try the spirits to see
if they are of God is to look for the love! If a brother has love, Gods love (righteousness, goodness and the fruits of the
Spirit), then we know he belongs to God. He may not have come into the full knowledge of God’s Truth yet, he may not
even know he can be filled with the fullness of God, the seven Spirits of God, but he is still a brother! Don’t ostracise
him and cast him away if he doesn’t think like you think. He’s still working for the same purpose, he’s
still employed by the same God you are! Don’t judge another man’s servant – love him and help him come up
higher.
Many of the Sonship brethren are beginning to see it’s time we changed some things! It’s time to open our
hearts to God’s people no matter what realm they are in, even if they are hurt and wounded and sitting on the sidelines.
If we are who we say we are we should have the ability to minister to a person on any level of his salvation and take him
up to his next step. We should be able to ascend and descend through the seven Spirits of God (if they dwell in us) and have
the answers for all their questions or needs regardless of what they are. Truly this is the Melchisedec priesthood into which
God has called us.
If you’re not there yet, then just be honest about it. Quit hiding behind your “doctrines, revelations
and great knowledge” and get down and seek God. Our knowledge does NOT have the power we must have to fulfill our priesthood
– we must also have the love and compassion of God. We must seek until we are fully equipped for this tremendous work
God has given us.
