My America gets reproduced as a model

One of my first 1100 discoveries on the internet was Crossway Models in England.  They have an excellent reputation for building white metal models of most versions of the ADO-16.

When I saw some pictures of their models, I emailed them and asked if they could build a replica of my America.   I soon received an email telling me that although they'd never made an america before, they thought they could if I sent some pictures.

So, I took some interior and exterior photos and included an actual paint sample for them to work with . . .

Literally a couple years and many emails later, I started to receive some progress photos.  It seems for some reason they had problems with the paint and wound up repainting the body several times.  They had to build a custom interior, because the 1970 America used a 1300GT style steering wheel and MG Midget style headrests.   Following the body and interior shot, I received an email asking me to choose a rear bumper from the attached picture.  After choosing a bumper, another email asked me to choose what style side moulding I'd like to have, and how I thought they should do the logo badges for the grill and trunk.   The car was finally complete and arrived a few weeks later.  I'm extremely happy with the results and the paint is a perfect color match to my car!
