Most of you would have seen one of the most popular movies out, Coyote Ugly, the main story line of Coyote Ugly is Young songwriter Violet Sanford travels to New York seeking fame and fortune. Along the way she ends up working at Coyote Ugly, the most infamous bar in the city where the motto is "Don't get drunk, get ugly." The bar features a team of women bartenders who do outrageous things with patrons and the press.

Most people would think that this movie is just about drinking and girls dancing on a bar, but if we look closly at the film, we notice the different kinds of power each charcater has over each other.

The main character (Violet) starts off without any power and a lot of people take advantage of her.

When Violet starts working at Coyote Ugly, she asks Lil (the owner) if she can leave early to go and peform at a club, at first Lil says no, but finally gives in. When the time comes for Violet to leave, Lil says no because the bar was going off. Violet says "what will happen if I do leave" and Lil simply respondes by saying "You're not going, and if you were, you would have left by now"

Violet rings her boyfriend to say that she cant make it and he says "she doesn't own you, you can still make it" This shows that Lil has a lot of power over her workers especailly to the ones she knows are scared to do anything that would risk them losing their job.

Lil uses her power to her advantage because she knows that if she uses it right she can and will get what she wants.

The other main character that has power in the movie is Rachael, who also works at the Coyote Ugly bar. On Violets first night Lil introduces as her as a 'bitch'. Then Cammie says "Yeah, the only problem is, she is a bitch". Rachael then tries to put Violet down all the time, she has a lot of power over the other workers and Lil tells Violet that she will learn a lot from Racheal.

Rachael puts down the other workers a lot, and uses her power in a very manipulative way. Violet is a very strong character to put up with all of the things Rachael does to her.
