Christology: the Person & Work of Jesus the Christ

Spring 2004 (Dallas) and Summer (India)July 2004

Prospectus for
Christology: the Person & Work of Jesus the Christ

Course Description: A biblical and theological examination of the person, Jesus of Nazareth, his natures, personhood, and work.

Rationale for the Course:
"Who do you say that I am?"; Jesus asks his disciple. This is the question of the ages. One's answer determines everything. Christianity stands or collapses on this one issue- the identity and significance of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. We can not assume that the world accepts the message of the Christian church. Nor can we assume there are no foes to the historic biblical message of Christ Jesus. Who do people say Jesus is? How can we interact with them with the message of the New Testament and the historic faith of the Christian church? If you would minister then this course is for you. Our message is Jesus Christ and him crucified! A failure here is to jettison the Christian faith.

Scripture Foundation:

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, Romans 1:1-6 (ESV)
To them (Israel) belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. Romans 9:5 (ESV)
...for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.; 1 Cor. 8:6 (NIV)
