This is the latest range of surf rods developed by Penn with the help of casting champion Neil Mackellow of UK. Available in Singapore only quite recently, its popularity among surfcasters here is increasing. Its ability to cast far and a low price tag are the main reason of attracting surfasters to these range. The PPT range consist of the Pendulum, Groundcast and the Sidewinder. All are designed to cast with multipliers only and most effectively with a reel-at-bottom setup. Coasters are provided with each rod for attaching your reel to the yellow shrink tubed butt section. There is a special coat of resin-impregnated material at the tip base to help anglers grip better when separating the two sections of the rod especially when hands are wet. Guides on all PPT rods are genuine Fuji guides whipped with bright yellow threads and coated with high build epoxy. The Pendulum and Groundcast are both paired with high-stand-off BSVLG while the Sidewinders are paired with the conventional three-legged BNOG.

Although classed as a potential tournament tool, the PPT range are also good for fishing especially the Sidewinder which Neil Mackellow strongly recommend. For our own local fishing, the PPT is good for fishing off the beaches of Changi and East Coast as well as the Bedok Jetty. Suitable reels to go with the PPT are the Abu 7000 size and the Penn 525mag reel.

The Penn Slammer.

Penn Slammer SLC 2910MH

Model Penn Slammer

Casting Weight 2-6oz

Where To Buy K&K Tampines
Two colour is available for the Penn Slammer, yellow and white version. You can buy a Slammer rung for either fixed spool or multiplier. Not designed as a surf rod, the Penn Slammer is a popular rod at the Bedok Jetty. Slammer is a proven rod at the Jetty because several big fish have already been landed by it. Quality fittings can be found on the rod. Guides are a full set of (7 intermediate + 1 tip) Fuji genuine Sic. Epoxy coating is high build to protect the expensive guides. Underwhipping is done on the rod for the guides to sit on. Match this rod to the Daiwa LD50H, Abu7000s or the Shimano TLD15 . Not a suitable rod to be used on the beach due to its short length. Strictly a jetty rod, buy one if you decide to fish at the jetty.
