Fiji-Namosi- Wainimakutu Village of Papermakers

Welcome to a remote region of Namosi highlands above Suva, Fiji, to a beautiful Wainimakutu Village of Papermakers.

The families were on Christmas holidays and enjoyed helping to make new art paper.

Leslie spent a lovely few months in the Village in 2006/7/8 to help make the new equipment and teach the Villagers new modern ways of smooth papermaking.

Some of the facinating pictures will begin to share with you the wonder of the region.

Welcome to the highlands of Namosi, near Suva, Fiji Islands

Senator Kiniviliame Taukeinikoro helped the headmaster Paula and Leslie for new books for the primary school. The teachers helped in translating some special books. Now they have a special printer to print their own books on the lovely smooth paper.

Thanks for donating a day of your time to help make some equipment.

The village men plant dalo, cassava, pineapples, yogona on the steep hillsides helped by a horse to help carry the heavy load back for market.
