Retinal detachment prevention

Are there any precautions I can take to prevent retinal tears?

Protective glasses during contact sports, in industries
Avoid pressing/ vigorously rubbing your eye.
Regular retinal exams especially for high myopes is important. Retinal tears may be detected in time, preventing Retinal Detachment. The tears can be sealed by laser/ Cryo application.
