It makes you look so lovely! But, effects of prolonged use of make-up, especially with cheaper quality of cosmetics are - Dryness of skin around eyes, early wrinkles, pigmentation around eyes, pigmentation of conjunctiva from mascara . If you are using contact lenses, no internal eyeliner is advisable. Apply make-up and then insert lenses in the end, since they may get damaged during make-up.

16.What do I do for a bee sting on my eye?

This is not a site to replace your doctor! Some things can  be done. If the sting is on the eyelid/skin around, wash the area well. Apply antiseptic ointment like Dettol  to prevent infection. See that it does not go in the eye. A non-sedative, anti-histaminic, anti-inflammatory tablet may help, especially when there are multiple stings and swelling. This usually solves the problem. Sometimes, the stinger may be embedded deeper into the skin, and may take time to come out. This requires a consultation. The doctor will look with the slit-lamp and under magnification, will remove the stinger.

21. Why do eyes water while cutting onions?

On cutting onions, a chemical called 'Suberin' is released. This irritates the eyes and causes watering. This chemical is sensitive to heat, therefore if you cut onions near your stove, the irritation will be less.

22. I am 7 months pregnant and recently I do not see well with my contact lenses. Should I change my lenses?

You do not need to change your contact lenses. In pregnancy, some eye changes occur. You need not get alarmed due to them. They are a part and parcel of a healthy, normal pregnancy. There is water accumulation in the cornea, also the shape of the cornea changes, causing changes in refraction. The changes will revert back to normal usually after delivery. I advise that you were your glasses for some time. You can go back to contact lenses later.

Twitchy eyelid is an involuntary quivering of the eyelid, which lasts for a few seconds. No one exactly knows the reason for this twitching. It may be related to stress or fatigue. The other body muscles also have such similar twitching, but you do not consider them as ominous, so why be partial to eyelid muscles? Gently massaging the eyelid will relieve the twitch.
