Among the missing,
were both the Godzillas'... Max and Tammy had placed a tracking
device inside the Molokai animal, but it didn't seem to
be working. This had been the mission's only failure. Now, it
was anyone's guess, where the two would show up... Or confront
each other. Officials had declared a State of Emergency when Pearl
Harbor was attacked. The flow of human traffic, had become
a flood. The air and sea ports, were backed up with people.
All trying to leave the islands. The police force, was joined
by the National guard, as well as the military... With everyone fighting
to leave, chaos had arrived.
FendTech was just
as overwhelmed... It's staff had tripled. Add to this, a strong
military presence. (Under Emergency conditions, Military and FendTech were
one and the same.) Stanton was now forced to work along side
other figure-heads. This was something, he never really liked... But,
only tolerated. Max realized, he and John Stanton, had alot more
in common, than he originally thought.
At present,
Max was again, working in the lab. He and the girls,
were looking at new ways to stop the Godzillas. This might
be impossible now... Since the mechanism of their survival, wasn't something
they could see, touch or examine. It was like trying to
fight, your shadow, or reflection in a mirror. It was thought,
Serizowa had done, just that. Tammy figured that her uncle, like
Max,.. Had stumbled into his answer. After all, Serizowa wasn't looking
for any superweapon... He was actually trying to develop a new
sorce of free energy. This, according to what he had, written down.
Now came the interruption.
Stanton had sent
Murphy to get them. Apparently, he was eager to show off,
the new toy he was getting. This assumption proved correct, as
Murphy led the three to FendTech's private air field. The field,
was actually in the middle of the facillity. Old "abandoned"
buildings all around it. Now the group was waiting on 'Skyfire's'
arrival. "I called Honolulu airport, they've cleared all the traffic
away from here." Stanton explained. Max looked about the huge area. "Exactly,
how big is this thing?" He asked. " You'll know it, when you see
it." Murphy replied. Like a proud father, Thought Max. "..This something, you
came up with?" Max asked. "Maybe, just a bit." Murphy admitted.
On the horizon,
a small, dark shape appeared. It was comming, fast! The shape
grew larger... And larger still. Now it was massive! As it approached,
the sound became defining. Max stared at it, as it slowed to
a hover... The amazing part, was that it could even fly, in
the first place! It's a gigantic, metallic nightmare, Max thought, as
it started to decend. It was shaped like some flying monster,
or dragon, bristling with firepower. It was now touching terra-firma,
engines kicking up a dust storm. 'Skyfire' was here. "...Who comes up
with these things?" Max asked, absent-mindedly... Still aw-struck by the mechanical
beast. "The Japanese... We worked it out, as a joint project." Murphy
said, matter of factly.
"...Ladies and Gentlemen,
I give you the last word in defense Technology!" Stanton exclamed,
smileing wide. "..It's years ahead, of anything the military has." He
added. Max was still tranfixed by the massive and strange looking
ship. "Yes, but how the hell, does it stay in the air?" "... Hydrogen
Compression Thrust Engines... New development in aero-space research." Murphy filled
in, Max gave a nod. "... Where do you think, all that S.D.I.
money went?" Murphy smiled. Into this flying Dinosaur, Max thought quietly.
No, he didn't like it.

___
"... No, what you
guys got there, is one really big, Bull's Eye! You might
as well, paint 'hit me' on it!" Max argued. "It's covered with
a special skin, Max... It's insulated from both Heat and Radiation!"
Murphy disputed. The argument was taking place in the Lab. It
was safe, as Stanton wasn't around. "So, what's your take?" Murphy asked
the women, who were quietly looking on. "I'll reserve judgement, until
I see it work." Tammy said. "...So, he's gotten to you, too."
Murphy exclaimed, nodding at Max. "Ah, Nevermind.." He added, putting
a cap on the discussion. With it, He left the room.
"I think you
got him, pretty steamed, Max..." Sue said, after watching Muphy's retreat.
"Give him a little while, he'll get over it." Max replied, getting
back to his work at hand. "Skyfire, may look a bit extreme,..
But, from what I'm told,.. It's more than up to the challenge!"
Sue added. "Let's hope so... I'd hate to see it's crew waisted,
too!" Max said. This was the troubling thought, that drove his
argument. Sue could see, he was serious. "You really think, it's a suicide
run, then?" She asked, sounding troubled herself. "Well, I'm hopping,
that's not the case. At least, for Murphy!" Max admitted. After
all, Murphy was going to be on the flying warship.

Tammy looked upset,.. Much more so, than Max had seen before.
She had rushed past, were Sue and he were working. Now, both were
concerned. Sue gave Max a look, and he was off to see what
was wrong. He found the girl, in a small room, off the
back of the lab. She was crying. "... Is this, a private moment?"
He asked, looking to see if she wanted him there. Tammy looked
up, then motioned him in. "...I just got off the phone, with
my mother..." She said, lost in a fog. Max quietly looked
on. "She refuses to leave Honolulu!.. She said this was her home...
Even if she dies here!" With this, she broke down once again.
"You gotta get her outta here..." Max said. "I know, I argued
with her,... She hung up on me, Max!" The woman exclaimed. Max
thought for a moment. " We gotta go to her, then...The quicker,
the better!" He finished.
Stanton looked
at the three from behind his desk. He might have been harsh
and abraisive, but he was just as concerned with life. "...Alright
then,.. What are you waiting for? Get outta here!" He said.
"Yes sir!" Came a unison response. "...If you run into any problems,
I'll have Skyfire ready to back you up!" Added Stanton. This surprised
Max, who didn't realize, the three were important enough, to risk
the Top Secret Machine.

Night was creeping
in, on the city. The sky was a deep pink, fading to purple
quickly. The three were driving along mostly empty streets, in
a Humvee. At this time of day, Honolulu was usually hopping
with vacationers, heading out for some night life entertainment. Now,
the eateries and clubs stood silent. Here and there, people were
still evacuating... As Army and National Guard trucks held patrol. Stangest
of all these sights, were the battle tanks driving down the
city's main roadways. With the sprawling nature of Honolulu, it
would take some time, to reach Tammy's destination.
" I think I
should tell you, Don't be expecting a warm welcome, once we
get there!" Tammy said, as she drove along. "Let me guess, she
hates science, too?" Max inquired from the passenger seat. "Yeah,
only worse...She'll be happy to tell you, Godzilla's your fault!" "...Ohhh,
Good." Max said, sounding nervous. "...So she thinks, we screwed up
the world, then?" Sue asked, leaning foward from the back seat. "...Pretty
much. She's not even happy with me, and my dino studies!"
Tammy added, the others looked at her with aprehension.
The Hummer was
coming up on a wide intersection... It's three occupants, could
see tanks and other military vehicles stationed there. Suddenly they
all opened fire! "What the?!.." Tammy started. But the answer Came
too quick. From the direction of the beach, beyond the giant hotel
on the right, came a thunderous roar. Tammy floored the breaks,
and the truck screeched to a stop. Godzilla's giant head rounded
the hotel, into view. The three sank back in their seats, as
far as they could. "Shit!" Tammy exclaimed, " I know, this isn't a
good time, but who forgot to turn on the radio??" Max stymied.
"Ohhh, Crap!" Sue fired from the back, reaching for the field portible.
The giant
reptile attaked... Biting at the smaller vehicles, and thrashing them
aside like little toys. Service men were tossed about like rag
dolls. The tanks started to pull back, but the monster was
too quick... Stopping them with it's giant sickle claws. Then, the
beast leaned forward... It's massive jaws closing in on the men.
"...Ohhhh,.. My...God!!" Tammy said, frightened beyond her limit. Godzilla,..
Was eating.
Max grabbed the
radio, not taking an eye off the animal. "We got a problem,
Max! Where the hell were you?!" Stanton Barked over the speaker.
"...Right in the middle of it, actually!" "Well, get you ass, outta
there!" Stanton yelled. "Ya Think??!" He said, as Tammy threw the truck
in reverse. It's motion caught Godzilla's eye. Now, the monster
was interested in them! "We need to go a little faster..." Max
nervously said as Tammy drove backward. "You're more then welcomed,
to take over!" She shot back. "Our problem's not getting any smaller
here, John!" Max yelled into the radio, trying to rush Stanton
along. "Sit tight, help's on the way!" Stanton replied. "...Ahh,
that's easy for him to say..." Max muttered, checking on Tammy's
escape route. "Which animal is it, Max?" Stanton asked. "I don't Care..."
Max said, matter of factly. Godzilla was gaining on them. Driving
a full sized Hummer backward, and at speed,.. Was hard enough
in a straight line...Tammy was doing it, around obstacals and curving
roadways. Max figured she deserved a medal after this, if they
lived though it. Godzilla's mouth looked like a tunnel once again...
Only this time, it was awake and hungry!
