All Star Band

Young Generation - Posted on 5/9/2001

It seems like every couple months or so KCCN FM 100 just happens to come out with a new CD. While Young Generation isn’t an official FM 100 release (the CD is actually a fund raiser for the Hawaii March of Dimes), the FM 100 "All Star Band" is the driving force behind the album. With names such as Three Plus, Sudden Rush, Norm, Justin, and Kapena lending all of their creative talents to this CD, you "don’t have to think twice" about getting this CD. With local star power such as this, "Young Generation" is sure to be a local hit.

Leading the pack on the CD are Quino (Living Just a Little) and Three Plus (Me and You) which have been getting considerable airplay on KCCN for the past two weeks. Both songs are excellent and have that island groove to them that are sure to make them hits. Providing some of the backup on the CD with decent songs are Kapena (Keep It Together), Jon Yamasato (There She Goes), and Justin & Co (Save & Groovy). Perhaps the pleasant surprise is Lina Girl, who this time out lends vocals to "Feels Like Makin Love" and "Opae E." She definitely holds her own with the remake of "Feels" and makes you wonder if she won’t be releasing a CD sometime soon (she also had a few tracks on Tiny CD . . . see review below). On the whole the CD is a winner, not only for the March of Dimes, but for the All Star Band as well. Once again FM 100 has put together another great CD.
