Imua

Next Generation - Posted on 5/4/2002

In this third venture out for the group the idea behind "Next Generation" is evident from the song of the same name which talks about how the children will be the next generation and them growing up in this world that we live in. The title pretty much sets the tone for what to expect from the rest of the CD, with the exception of the last two tracks.

I had mixed feelings about picking up this CD, reason being I didn't really know what to expect from their newest venture. After listening to it I have to say that it did not meet my expectations. Part of this problem may be that the group lost one of its memebers(Samson Mook Sang). Even still there's no signature Imua song to hold up this album, although KCCN and Island Rhythm have been giving the track Do You Believe In Love some airtime, I think that Do You Remember is the album's strongest song with its playful recollection of simpler times. Perhaps the thing I was disappointed most about this album was the last two songs, Mr. Governor and Warrior Pride. The first was written during and for the HSTA strike last year while the latter song being the "updated" version of I'm a Rainbow Fan. I don't think these songs fit at all with the rest of the CD and as for Pride . . . any Rainbow fan knows that they will be the BOWS and not the Warriors, so why change the song?
