Makaha Sons

Na Pua O Hawai'i - Posted on 5/19/2001

Take the Makaha Sons (Moon, John, & Jerome), then about ten or so of their closest friends who are also great musicians, have them sing songs together, then put all of those songs on a CD and you get a pretty good idea of the flow of Na Pua o Hawai’i. Names like Dennis Pavao, Robi, Cyril Pahinui, Robert Cazimero, and many more join the sons on at least one of the tracks on the CD. The majority of the songs have been released on previous Makaha Sons or other artists’ CDs, but this is a nice collection worth having and there are also four new tracks available as well too.

This album simply speaks for itself. It takes great musicians and puts them together with great songs. My favorite song would have to be Ka Loke with Dennis Pavao, simply because of his singing coupled with the Makaha Sons is damn near awesome. Not to say that the other songs are slouches themselves. Nothing could take away from the collaborative effort in Kaulana Kawaihae with Cyril or Nani Kaua’i with sweet sounding Teresa Bright. If you like any of the artists that play with the sons on the album get the CD, you will like it. This CD has something for everyone. Guaranteed.
