Tiny CD 2 - Posted on 8/13/2002

Tiny, Tiny, Tiny. What can I say about this guy except for the fact that I think he's very eccentric. For starters why would you put copy protection on your CD? You're not some big name national recording star like Eminem or anything like that. Secondly, granted a lot of the songs you selected for the album are good-they're good cause someone else made them good first. That's just what we need in the local music industry right now, more people remaking songs. With the A-list that's on this CD couldn't we come up with original stuff for the people? Needless to say nothing is ever truly "copy proof."

I had mixed feelings about this album. It was good, but the reason it was good was because all of the songs were remakes. Leading the pack would have to be Kiss Me. The song by Sixpence gets new life with Robi Kahakalau's sweet voice (the video on ODL is another story all together). Other recognizable numbers include Oh, What a Night, Father Figure, Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Unforgettable and All-Star. Another number that I favor would have to me Here, There & Everywhere why Tani Lynn and DisGuyz. She has a sweet and mature sound and when you combine that with the acoustics of DisGuyz you have a really great song. Is the CD worth getting? Yeah, sure it is. If you like listening to remakes done by local artists.

Tiny CD - Posted on 4/9/2001

When I buy albums based on the fact that I only really want one or two songs I really hope that I don’t end up wasting my money. Which was what I thought was going to happen when I decided to buy Tiny CD just for the song "Afternoon Delight." However I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are some hidden gems on this album. For those that don’t know who Tiny Tadani is, he is one of the spokesmen for Oceanic cable and also has his own local show which he films with his own camera. If you’ve ever seen his show or him doing a commercial spot, I’m sure you’d be skeptical (just as I was) to buy an album that he came out with.

However as I said earlier I think that this CD is pretty decent and can hold it’s own. This CD is an excellent example of his show. It’s simply a big mix of all his friends doing songs with a lone Tiny Tadani track. Afternoon Delight is certainly the flagship song of this CD, but the magic doesn’t stop there. Ellsworth Simeona also opens the CD with a great rendition of We Just Disagree, while Forte and Jeff Rasmussen also backup the album with remade crowd pleasers such as I’ll Be There and Crazy Love (respectively). Meanwhile Bruddah Sam & Lina Girl also lend their voices to two distinctly different types of songs (So Amazing and Local Kine Grindz) that leaves you wondering, "Is that really them?" Overall, while it’s not as good as Island Love Shack, it is definitely worth your money if you buy it.

Island Love Shack - Posted on 4/9/2001

I think it was the advertising that actually sold me on buying this CD. That and the remote possibility of it being another Pride of the Islands III. I mean wouldn’t you think so from hearing this: "never before released/new music from: Justin, Ho’onu’a, Bitty McLean, BET . . ." Overall I was disappointed in buying this CD, not to say that this isn’t good . . . cause it is. It’s just that my philosophy is "why buy, when you can burn." So that’s why I was disappointed cause I thought I would be getting a few more new songs.

On the whole the CD is an excellent copulation, from crowd pleasers such as Lukie D’s God Knows I Love You, Chaka Demus & Pliers’s Witness Stand, Roots Odyssey’s Romeo & Juliet, and both of Bitty’s songs. With the theme being "Island Love Shack" the CD does a wonderful job of keeping with this theme, with all of the songs speaking of a person’s love or affection for their mate. This CD is a mix of everything and just about anyone will enjoy it. It’s got fast upbeat songs such as Island Girls and God Knows and slow ones as well, Juliet and Nothing Can Change this Love. Truly a great collection of music sure to please anyone.
