Perak, the "Silver State', covers an area of 21,000
square kilometres and has a diverse population of two million. For
centuries; Perak was known for its rich tin deposits; and indeed
owes its name to this silver-hued ore. Rich in history, culture
and folklore, Perak has many points of interest for the visitors.
Among its attractions are the limestone cave-temples of Perak Tong
and Sam Poh Tong, Gua Tempurung the largest limestone cave in Peninsular
Malaysia, a Geological Museum, the ruins of Kellie's Castle, the
Bukit Larut Hill Resort, Ubudiah Mosque and Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary.
Perak has many gorgeous beaches and islands, including Teluk Batik,
Pulau Pangkor and Pulau Pangkor Laut.
