Teach the Learner
Welcome to the exciting world of language learning! Exicitng, you say? Yes! Teaching a person the basic skills of English is an enjoyable, satisfying ministry, to which God has called you as His child. The adventure of Christian living is serving God. ESL proves to be a wonderful and rewarding outreach, because it is a relational ministry, a "people-to-people" mission. You're involved with a "missions ministry" where English builds the needed bridge of communicaiton and culture.
Teaching English does not mean you have to have years of special linguistics training. Most students want to know how to use the basic conversational English skills needed in everyday life.
Teaching English as an evangelistic outreach does not mean you have to possess the gift of evangelism. You fulfill Paul's admonition to Timothy to do the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5) by providing a Christian environment during your tutoring sessions.
Teaching English to grateful students will expose you to other customs and cultures that will broaden your Christian life and worldview.

You will discover new customs that will fascinate you, new foods that will enchant you. So, allow yourself to be introduced to the world for which God died. Be prepared to experience an invigorating and refreshing ministry. God will use you to bring eternal change into another life.
