The German hunt Terrier or
Deutscher Jagd terrier was developed in Germany, probably by crossing the English Fox
Terrier with the Lakeland Terrier. Careful selection achieved a terrier that would go to
earth and retrieve small game from land or water. The German Hunt Terrier is a courageous
hunter, which will take on fox and boar as well as small rodents.
Character and care
This hunter and Gundog possesses an aggressive temperament and is
not a suitable pet. It should be kenneled outdoors, and can be groomed with a hound brush.
