BEATLES - 1983 ABBEY ROAD SHOW QUALITY IS GOOD TO VERY GOOD STEREO. SONGS OFTEN FADE OUT EARLY BUT THIS IS HOW THEY WERE PRESENTED BACK THEN. THIS CD HAS SEVERAL TAKES NOT AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE.

BEATLES - 5.1 DEGREES OF SEPARATION (2CDS)  DISC ONE: Yellow Submarine - Eleanor Rigby - All together now - When I'm 64 - Only a northern song - Nowhere man  DISC TWO: Lucy in the sky with diamonds - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - All you need is love - Hey bulldog - It's all too much. A very good idea to me! SOmeone took each of the channels of the remastered DVD and created this CD. As a result, five versions of each song is represented here, and we can listen to many sounds that aren't so clearly noticed when put all together. Very interesting listening.

BEATLES - 69 REHEARSALS VOL 1 HIGHLIGHTS ARE THE MEDLEY "GET BACK / MAYBELENE / BROWNEYED HANDSOME MAN" AND "LITTLE PIECE OF LEATHER" SUNG BY JOHN, PAUL IMITATION OF JIMMY NICHOLS AND A HEAVY VERSION OF "I'VE GOT A FEELING / BEEP BEEP". BEATLES - ACETATES 1963/69, UK 13 OUTTAKES YELLOW DOG. MOST TRACKS ARE BEST SOURCES. PRETTY INTERESTING DEMOS AND STUDIO EARLY MIXES. QUITE AN EXCITING CD AT THE TIME OF ITS RELEASE, PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE VERSIONS OF 12-BAR ORIGINAL WERE OF POOR QUALITY AND WERE PLAGUED WITH VINYL CRACKLE. YELLOW DOG HAD DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB IN CLEANING UP SOME OF THESE ACETATES. MOST OF THE TRACKS FROM THIS CD ARE FROM AUCTIONED ACETATES SOLD IN THE LATTER PART OF THE 1980'S AND EARLY 1990'S.

BEATLES - ACETATES (2 CDS) YELLOW DOG NEW AND IMPROVED OVER SINGLE YELLOW DOG ISSUE ABOVE. CONTAINS SGT PEPPER ACETATE AND DISK TWO CONTAINS MANY, MANY NEW SURPRISES LIKE THE ONE SIDED DICK JAMES ACETATE OF HARD DAYS NIGHT. BEATLES - AM TAPE THE STORY OF A BEATLES' CONCERT HAVING BEEN TAPED OFF THE PA SYSTEM IN ITALY IN L965 HAS BEEN ONE OF THOSE TOPICS THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS. IT WAS EVIDENT IN THE END THAT IT WASN'T TRUE AND THAT THE REASON FOR THIS WAS THE FACT THAT AN ALBUM HAD BEEN RELEASED IN ITALY WITH THE TITLE ''THE BEATLES IN ITALY". THE SLEEVE CONTAINED A FEW PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE BEATLES PERFORMING IN ITALY, BUT THE SONGS WERE THE USUAL STUDIO VERSIONS. YEARS AFTER THIS MYSTERY HAD BEEN SOLVED, SOME SONGS PERFORMED IN ITALY HAVE SURFACED IN EXCELLENT QUALITY. THEY ARE: ''TWIST AND SHOUT'', ''SHE'S A WOMAN" AND "I'M A LOSER" (INCOMPLETE). THIS IS AN EDIT OF THE BEST SOURCES POSSIBLE FOR THE A.M. TAPE. PLUS REVOLUTION OUTTAKES AND YOKO TOO.

BEATLES - ANTHOLOGY DIRECTORS CUT 93 (10 DVDS)  - Highlights and Alternative Segments Include:  Story VS Performance - The 1993 Director’s Cut of Anthology focused primarily on the Beatles story, using performance footage only to enhance the story. The final version would remove much of the story and details to include as much TV and concert footage as possible. At the time this appeared to be the best approach, but in retrospect opinions may chance after hearing the uncut interviews; this was after all their one change to tell their story. Collectors have countless sources for the TV and concert footage, but only one option to hear their story as done for the Anthology series, until now that is! Uncensored Version- comparisons between the two versions of Anthology clearly show heavy editing. An entire sequence regarding Yoko Ono and her effects on the band has been cut-down to almost nothing; only on the 1993 version will you hear unedited and sometimes unflattering comments. Many interviews did not even make it to the Anthology book. One example is George commenting on the positive experiences he had with drugs, including the famous dentist real name! The 1993 director’s cut also includes the original extended sequence on George’s songwriting later trimmed at George’s request. It becomes obvious by program 1 what you are seeing is what the director and production team assembled and presented to the band before they made numerous change request. Program Beginnings- Each program begins with an unused animated sequence in place of the Help! Introduction. In My Life Opening Montage- Programs 1-4 use this song montage with the commercial version using it only to start program 1. The early montage contains different shots from the final version including Allen Klein. Flashback Montage- An early idea was to begin each program (beginning with program 2) with a flashback montage covering important material seen in the previous program, this worked well for the first few programs, but unfortunately took too much time, Beginning with program 4, the flashbacks only went as far back as the previous program  While My Guitar Gently Weeps Montage- Ideas about the montage were changing by program 5, and no song montage was used for this program. For program 6, a different approach/song was used, and for the first time it was flash forward montage, using much footage not seen elsewhere in the program. Programs 7-8 drop the montage idea entirely Quality Of Archival Footage- At this early stage, Apple had to use what footage it had available with quality varying from poor to ex. Some of early TV appearances and newsreels are obviously taken from VHS screening tapes, and many include time-code. Some scenes contain the text “Temporary Picture” All of the new interviews and Apple owned material, including footage taken directly from the original cut of “The Long And Winding Road” look great and contains no time code. It is quite interesting to see what Apple’s film archives looked like in 1993. In 1995 Anthology producer Chips Chipperfield hinted at what this early version might look like when asked why they could not just use the original 10-hour version for the home video release “We can but that’s off-line. Off-line is a rough cut. It’s cut from whatever archive sources we have so a lot of it is VHS  Unused McCartney Interview- Programs 1&2 include an unused interview with Paul. This was the first interview shot and used before finally being replaced with a re-recorded Paul in black turtleneck With this first interview being re-shot, the stories vary from the final release Partially Unused Harrison Interview- For most of Programs 1&2, the only Harrison interview used is the control room interview with George sporting a moustache. More than ½ of this interview was later removed and replaced with a re-recorded clean-shaven George. With much of this first interview going unused, the stories vary from the final version  Unused Neil Aspinall Interviews- For most of the first two programs, we see Neil’s first interview sessions wearing no hat, the stories heard vary from the commercial version. Derek Taylor- Derek has a larger role in the early version of Anthology, and is featured in numerous unseen interviews Program Endings- An early idea was to end each program with a sequence showing the progression the band was making. Examples would be an overhead view showing the move from Liverpool to London, or the move from London to the US. Audio Outtakes- It is important to note that the 1993 Anthology uses very little studio outtake recordings. There are no created studio sequences of audio outtakes. We don’t hear any real audio outtakes until the 68 studio sessions, as the audio outtakes were still being examined at this early stage of production and were not made available to the production team just yet. But… we do get to hear the unused “Hums” ending for “A Day In The Life” along with part of take 4! Early/Abandoned Ideas- The 1993 Anthology uses many ideas later modified or dropped entirely. The recreations of fans rooms differ greatly; TV and tour montages were created then later dropped. An early idea was to show the move from Liverpool to Abbey Road studios, done by filming an entire trip-sequence taking you from Liverpool and ending at George Martin’s door in Abbey Road Studios. Other early ideas put Paul in the film “The Girl Can’t Help It” Various other unused segments appear throughout the entire eight programs No Closing Credits- At this early stage, none of the eight programs contain closing credits 1993 Ending- At this early stage, the documentary ends with the “Let It Be” sessions and rooftop concert. Program 8 part 1 dates from December 1993. 1994 would alter the Documentary considerably, with the three remaining Beatles reforming to record new music and joint interviews. It was at this point; the 1993 version was heavily re-edited leaving only a hint of what it had originally looked like.

BEATLES - COMPLETE BBC SESSIONS, THE (9 CDS) 1962/65 LONDON, UK 257 BBC GREAT DANE RECORDS. I'VE HEARD 'SATURDAY CLUBS,' LENNON SAID, REFERRING TO ONE OF THE BBC RADIO SHOWS FOR WHICH THE GROUP PLAYED IN 1962 AND 1963. 'SOMEBODY MUST HAVE PIRATED THEM IN AMERICA... WE DID A LOT OF TRACKS THAT WERE NEVER RECORDED ON RECORD FOR 'SATURDAY CLUB.' ALL THAT STUFF WE'D BEEN DOING AT THE CAVERN OR HAMBURG. BUT THERE'S SOME GOOD STUFF IN THERE. AND THEY WERE WELL RECORDED, TOO.' AS THE POPULARITY OF THE BEATLES GREW IN ENGLAND, THE GROUP BEGAN TO APPEAR MORE OFTEN ON BBC RADIO AND TV. IN THE SUMMER OF 1962, BEFORE THEIR FIRST UNITED KINGDOM LP, 'PLEASE PLEASE ME,' WAS PRODUCED, THEY RECORDED 14 SONGS FOR PROGRAMS SUCH AS 'SATURDAY CLUB' AND 'TOP OF THE POPS.'BY EARLY 1963, THE GROUP HAD PERFORMED ON ALMOST EVERY ENGLISH RADIO POP SHOW. IN JUNE, THEY HAD THEIR OWN RADIO PROGRAM, 'POP GO THE BEATLES.' THEY PERFORMED THE THEME MUSIC FOR THAT PROGRAM, A 'BEAT' VERSION OF 'POP GOES THE WEASEL.' THE BROADCASTS ALSO INCLUDED HUMOROUS BANTER FROM THE FAB FOUR, WHO MADE IT CLEAR TO LISTENERS THAT THEY WERE REALLY PERFORMING AT THE BBC. BEFORE THE GROUP PLAYED 'THIS BOY' ON ONE BBC PROGRAM, HARRISON ANNOUNCED: 'THIS ISN'T OUR RECORD AT ALL. IT'S US SINGING IT, ACTUALLY IN THE (RADIO) STUDIO PERFORMING IT.'THE BEATLES RECORDED SEPARATE VERSIONS OF ALL THE SONGS THAT WERE AIRED ON THESE BBC APPEARANCES. BY JUNE 1965, THOSE TAPES INCLUDED 88 SONGS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BBC. THIRTY-SIX WERE COVER VERSIONS OF OTHER ARTISTS' MATERIAL THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN RELEASED COMMERCIALLY. THEY PLAYED LESSER-KNOWN RHYTHM-AND-BLUES B-SIDES, AND SOME OF THEIR FAVORITES BY ELVIS PRESLEY, BUDDY HOLLY, CHUCK BERRY, ROY ORBISON, LITTLE RICHARD, THE COASTERS AND THE SWINGING BLUE JEANS. SURVIVING MASTER TAPES WERE KEPT IN A NOT-SO-TIGHT BBC VAULT UNTIL 1982 WHEN MUCH OF THE MUSIC WAS REPACKAGED INTO A THREE-HOUR RADIO PROGRAM THAT WAS SYNDICATED IN THE UNITED STATES UNDER THE TITLE 'THE BEATLES AT THE BEEB.'

BEATLES - COMPLETE UPGRADED BBC SESSIONS. PURPLE CHICK (11 CDS) INCLUDES BONUS CD ROM THAT IS CHOCK FULL OF PICTURES, TRACK LISTINGS ENOUGH TO PLEASE ANY BEATLE PEEDLE. LOTS OF UNBOOTED UPGRADES. THE BONUS DISC FEATURES ARTWORK, RECORDING INFORMATION, PLUS MP3S OF INTERVIEW SHOWS.

BEATLES - COMPLETE ROOFTOP CONCERT, (OR SO WE THOUGHT!!) AT THIS TIME, PLANS WERE MADE TO TURN THE ROOF AT NO 3 SAVILLE ROW, THE APPLE CORPS HQ, INTO A TRANQUIL ROOF GARDEN, AND SO RINGO STARR AND MICHAEL LINDSAY-HOGG DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK. IT SEEMED IDEAL FOR WHAT THEY HAD IN MIND.THE BEATLES LAST EVER PUBLIC CONCERT TOOK PLACE AROUND MID DAY ON THURSDAY JANUARY THE 30TH AND LASTED A FULL 42 MINUTES, AND MAY WELL HAVE GONE ON LONGER HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE COMPLAINTS OF THE NEIGHBOR, STANLEY DAVIS. THE WOOD MERCHANT NEXT DOOR WAS NOT A BEATLES FAN SO IT SEEMED. HE WAS QUOTED AS SAYING "I WANT THIS BLOODY NOISE STOPPED. IT'S ABSOLUTE DISGRACE". BUT THE BANKER, ALAN PUVERNESS, AT THE END OF THE STREET WAS KINDER, HE SAID "SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN'T APPRECIATE GOOD MUSIC".

BEATLES - COMPLETE ROOFTOP CONCERT, THE (2CDS) ALL SONGS INCLUDED ON TRACK 1 OR TRACK 2 ON DISC 1 ARE ALL PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE ON "THE COMPLETE SINGLE ROOFTOP CONCERT (SEE ABOVE). BUT THE INTRO OF THE 1ST TRACK AND THE OUTRO AFTER JOHN'S FAMOUS QUOTE [I'D LIKE TO SAY "THANK YOU" ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP AND OURSELVES I HOPE WE PASSED THE AUDITION.] ARE LONGER IN LENGTH THAN ON PREVIOUS RELEASES. IT SEEMS THAT THE MICROPHONE AND CAMERA WAS SHOOTING FROM A BUILDING OTHER THAN THE APPLE BUILDING TRACKS 3 AND 4. DON'T LET ME DOWN #2 WAS ENTIRELY OMITTED. THE SOUND ON TRACK 5 WAS RECORDED ON THE SAVILLE ROW AT STREET LEVEL. GEORGE'S BACKING VOCAL IS RECORDED LOUDER THAN JOHN AND PAUL'S. SO, EVEN THOUGH IT SOUNDS STRANGE IT IS MOST DEFINATELY INTERESTING. (YOU CAN STILL HEAR THOSE DAMNED BEEPS.) ALL OF THE SONGS ON DISC 2 WERE PREVIOUSLY UNAVAILABLE. SO, FOR THE FIRST TIME WE CAN HEAR THE,"GET BACK #1 WARM-UP JAM". HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED; JOHN STARTED PRACTICING HIS GUITAR SOLO OF GET BACK,THEN THE OTHERS CHIMED IN. AFTER THE PERFORMANCE OF "GET BACK #2", WE HEAR "I WANT YOU (SHE'S SO HEAVY)". BUT ONLY ONE GUITAR PHRASE, PLAYED BY JOHN, CAN BE HEARD. INTERVIEWS WERE RECORDED FROM THE STREET SOUNDING LIKE THEY WERE BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE APPLE BUILDING. FINALLY WE ARE TREATED TO A RENDITION OF "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN". THE SONG WAS PERFORMED BETWEEN "DIG A PONY" AND "I'VE GOT A FEELING". NATURALLY IT WAS JOHN WHO STARTED PLAYING THE RIFF, THEN THE OTHERS CHIMED IN. IT'S A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO HEAR THE PERFORMANCE, BECAUSE AN INTERVIEW WAS TAKING PLACE. WE CAN HEAR PERFORMANCES BETWEEN SEVERAL INTERVIEWS. GEORGE'S BACKING VOCAL ON "DON'T LET ME DOWN #2" WAS LOUDER THAN JOHN AND PAUL'S. IT SEEMS THAT THE VOLUME OF GEORGE'S MICROPHONE WAS SET LOUDEST ON THAT DAY. ON TRACK 3,WE HEAR THE ROLL_CALL OR THE TAKE_CALL BESIDES THE SOUND OF RUNNING CARS. ON TRACK 4, WE CAN HEAR THE PLAYBACK OF "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN". THE SOUND QUALITY IS MUCH BETTER THAN ON TRACK 2. I THINK THE BEST PART OF THIS DOUBLE CD SET IS TRACK 4 ON DISC 2. WE CAN IMAGINE THE FAB4 CHATTING WHILE LISTENING TO THE PLAYBACK. ON TRACK 5,WE CAN HEAR THE PERFORMANCE THAT WAS RECORDED ON TOP OF THE APPLE BUILDING. FINALLY, EVEN THOUGH THE SOUND QUALITY OF THIS DOUBLE CD SET IS NOT VERY GOOD, IT'S WORTH HAVING THIS REMARKABLE COMPILATION OF THE HISTORICAL ROOFTOP CONCERT.

BEATLES - CONTROL ROOM MONITOR MIXES WORK IN PROGRESS OF VARIOUS SONGS, FROM REVOLVER IN 66 TO THE WHITE ALBUM. THIS DISC IS FOR THOSE OF US WHO STUDY THE BEATLES.

BEATLES - DE BIETELS TUSSEN DE BOLLEN - PEPPERLAND RECORDS 1091. (46:27) TRACKS 1-10 FROM A RARE DUTCH FAN CLUB (BEATLES UNLIMITED) ALBUM RELEASED IN JUNE 1984, SOME OF THESE TRACKS WERE USED ON THE BOOTLEG CD 'THE BEATLES IN HOLLAND' (BIRTHDAY RECORDS 1998 BR002) BUT ARE PRESENTED HERE IN THEIR ENTIRETY.

BEATLES - DECCA TAPES, THE YELLOW DOG RECORDS, YD061 RELEASE DATE: LATE 1995

BEATLES - DECCA TAPES. UPGRADED VERSION WHERE THE SPEED IS CORRECTED.

BEATLES - DEFLATING THE MYTHOLOGY (2CDS) WITH THE MYTHOLOGY SERIES FINALLY IN COLLECTORS HANDS, IT ARRIVED AS A BIT OF A DISSAPOINTMENT. THE SETS DIDN'T LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS, OR STRAWBERRY'S REPUTATION. MOST OF THE JOHN BARRETT MATERIAL IS OF INFERIOR QUALITY. WITH A TOTAL OF 11 DISCS FOR THE THREE VOLUMES, IT SEEMS LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO STRETCH THE MATERIAL AS FAR AS POSSIBLE, WITH LIVE PERFORMANCES THAT ARE AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE (OR UNLISTENABLE), AND INTERVIEWS (THOUGH INTERESTING) THAT DON'T JUSTIFY THE SIZE OF THE PROJECT. HAVING SAID THIS, THERE IS A FAIR AMOUNT OF MATERIAL THAT IS WORTHWHILE IN THE COLLECTIONS, BEING EITHER PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED OR SIGNIFICANTLY UPGRADED. THIS COLLECTION DELIVERS THE CHOICE MATERIAL REDILY (AND AFFORDABLY) INTO THE EVER EAGER LISTENERS EARS. A FEW GOODIES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO TOP IT OFF. DISC ONE CONTAINS BROADCAST MATERIAL. ALL MATERIAL IS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED OR IN UPGRADED QUALITY. PARTICULARLY THERE IS A NEWLY DISCOVERED BBC BROADCAST TAPE FROM 7/30/63 AND ONE FROM 1967 WHERE IT'S A BROADCAST OF THE SGT. PEPPER ALBUM. SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE PALLADIUM AND ROYAL COMMAND PREFORMANCE ARE THE TRUE LAUNCH OF BEATLEMANIA, PRESENTED HERE IN THEIR ENTIRETIES. DISC TWO CONTAINS STUDIO MATERIAL. THE EDIT TAKES OF I SAW HER STANDING THERE ARE PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED. THE SESSIONS FOR ONE AFTER 909, HOLD ME TIGHT, AND DON'T BOTHER ME ARE FROM A NEWLY DISSCOVERED TAPE SOURCE IN BEST-TO-DATE QUALITY. THE WHITE ALBUM TRACKS HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE FROM ACETATE, BUT THESE ARE FROM A TAPE SOURCE, OCTOPUS'S GARDEN IS AN UNUSUAL VERSION CONTAINING ONLY RINGO'S VOCALS.

BEATLES - DIG IT  THE HIGHLIGHTS ON THIS ONE ARE THE VERY CLEAN STAWBERRY FIELDS AND I FEEL FINE (WITH A DIFFERENT FEEL). CONDOR LABEL.

BEATLES - DOWN IN HAVANA TRACKS 1-6 TAKEN FROM A TAPE SOURCE WHICH INCLUDES PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SEGMENTS, SOME OF THESE TRACKS ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE BARRETT TAPES WHICH HAVE BEEN EDITED & MIXED DIFFERENTLY. FIRSTLY, 'DOWN IN HAVANA', AN AD LIB FROM PAUL DURING A BREAK FROM THE 'I WILL' SESSIONS. THIS TRACK IS MUCH BETTER QUALITY THAN THE MP3 FILE CURRENTLY CIRCULATED ON THE NET THAT HAS SINCE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE ON VARIOUS CD-R BOOTLEGS. TRACK 5 IS A STEREO JAMMING SESSION FROM JOHN, PAUL & RINGO, THIS HAS NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY RELEASED ON ANY BOOTLEG AND MAKES IT'S FIRST APPEARANCE HERE. 'CAN YOU TAKE ME BACK' CONTAINS EXTRA VERSES NOT INCLUDED ON THE BARRETT TAPES, AFTER CLOSE EXAMINATION OF BOTH TRACKS, IT SEEMS THAT THE VERSION ON THE BARRETT TAPES (ALTHOUGH LASTING LONGER) SEEMS TO BE EDITED TOGETHER FROM DIFFERENT PARTS, THE VERSION ON THIS COMPILATION CUTS OFF ABRUPTLY.TRACKS 7 TO 22 HAVE BEEN SOURCED FROM VARIOUS BOOTLEGS, BUT ARE COMPILED HERE IN THE CORRECT ORDER.

BEATLES - DR EBBETTS WHITE ALBUM - MONO (2CDRS) YOU CAN HEAR THE MELANCHOLIC MELODY OF SPANISH GUITAR AT THE BEGINNING OF WHITE ALBUM TUNE "THE CONTINUING STORY OF BUNGALOW BILL". THE 7 SECOND SEGMENT OF SPANISH GUITAR SOLO IS NOT PLAYED BY ANY OF THE BEATLES, CLEARLY FROM TECHNICAL REASON. SO WHOSE PERFORMANCE IS THIS? THE ANSWER IS MELLOTRON. THE GUITAR PHRASE IS ONE OF THE "FILLS" (SOUND LIBRARY) OF MELLOTRON MARK II. EACH MELLOTRON FILLS ARE TO HAVE MAXIMUM 7 SECOND LENGTH. YOU CAN GET THE SAMPLER CD-ROM "MIKE PINDER MELLOTRON" (AKAI), IT CONTAINS BUNGALOW BILL'S GUITAR SOUND. YOU CAN ALSO HEAR THE SAME SOUND ON KING CRIMSON'S LIVE ALBUM "EPITAPH". THEN, WHO ACTUALLY PLAYED? - ACCORDING TO THE NEWSGROUP REC.MUSIC.BEATLES, IT'S PERFORMED BY ERIC COOK, AN AUSTRALIAN SESSION GUITARIST.

BEATLES - FANTHOLOGY (2 CDS) YELLOW DOG. COBBLED FROM THE SOUNDTRACK OF THE (LEGITIMATE) "ANTHOLOGY" VIDEO SERIES, WITH SOME EXTRA MATERIAL ADDED FROM THE OFFICIALLY RELEASED AUDIO ANTHOLOGY SERIES. THE VIDEO SET HAD A LOT OF EXCITING NEW MATERIAL, BUT MOST OF THE REALLY GOOD STUFF WERE ONLY INCLUDED IN TINY BITS AND PIECES, (LIKE THE "BLOOPERS MEDLEY"). MANY TRACKS WERE EXCERPTED, EDITED AND TAMPERED WITH IN A MORE OR LESS CRUDE WAY. AT LEAST YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIT FOR HOURS SEARCHING THROUGH YOUR VIDEOTAPES TO FIND THE 15 SECONDS WORTH OF "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" OUTTAKES. BUT REGRETFULLY THE BOOTLEGGERS THEMSELF MADE THINGS A BIT WORSE BY MAKING THEIR OWN EDITS, MAKING THE PAUSES BETWEEN TRACKS TOO SHORT AND EVEN TRYING TO CROSSFADE THE LIVE MATERIAL ON DISC 2.

BEATLES - FIVE NIGHTS IN A JUDO ARENA. THIS ONE IS SO BAD THAT IT'S GREAT. THE SOUND QUALITY IS SUPERB, AND YOU CAN HEAR THE BEATLES PLAYING OFF KEY. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL ON SWINGIN PIG, SO MY COPIES WILL BE KILLERS.

BEATLES - FROM KINFAUS TO CHAOS (2 CDS) FROM KINFAUNS... IN MANY WAYS, THE BEATLES' TRIP TO INDIA IN MARCH OF 1968 TO STUDY TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION WITH THE MAHARISHI MAHESH YOGI CAN BE SEEN AS THE TRUE TURNING POINT OF THE GROUP BEING A GROUP. AFTER COMPLETING SESSIONS FOR A STOPGAP SINGLE, "LADY MADONNA" / "INNER LIGHT" IN EARLY FEBRUARY, THEY LEFT FOR RISHIKESH UNITED IN THEIR DESIRE FOR ENLIGHTENMENT, BUT CAME BACK FRAGMENTED AND SOMEWHAT DISILLUSIONED. RINGO LEFT THE MEDITATION COMPOUND AFTER TWO WEEKS, BLAMING BAD FOOD, BUT NOT BEFORE STATING THAT THE EXPERIENCE HAD BEEN "JUST LIKE BUTLIN'S", THE HOLIDAY CAMP WHERE HE USED TO PLAY WITH RORY STORM AND THE HURRICANES IN THE EARLY 60'S. PAUL FLEW OFF AFTER A MONTH, CLAIMING HE'D "GOTTEN AS MUCH AS HE NEEDED". JOHN AND GEORGE BROUGHT UP THE REAR AFTER JOHN HAD GOTTEN WIND OF SOME POSSIBLE MISBEHAVIOR BY THE YOGI REGARDING ONE OR MORE OF THE WOMEN WHO ACCOMPANIED THE BEATLES ON THEIR TRIP. THIS DETERIORATION OF THE TRIP WAS AN OMINOUS FOREBODING OF THE REMAINDER OF THE BEATLES CAREER: STILL A GROUP IN THEORY, BUT NOT A GROUP IN PRACTICE. DURING THE PERIOD THE FOUR WERE THERE, HOWEVER, THE THREE SONGWRITING BEATLES' MUSES WERE WORKING OVERTIME, FUELED BY MORE "DOWN TIME" THAN THEY HAD ENJOYED IN OVER FIVE YEARS, AND THE BUCOLIC ATMOSPHERE IN WHICH THEY WERE LIVING. THE SONGS FLOWED AS THEY HADN'T IN YEARS...BUT IN THEIR COMPOSITION THE TUNES WERE TRULY SOLO EFFORTS, EACH REFLECTING JOHN'S, PAUL'S AND GEORGE'S OWN INTERESTS MUSICALLY, PHILOSOPHICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY. BETWEEN THE THREE COMPOSERS, ALMOST FORTY SONGS WERE WRITTEN, MOST OF WHICH WOULD END UP ON THE BEATLES' NEXT EPONYMOUSLY TITLED LP. OTHERS WERE LEFT FOR THE LAST TWO BEATLES ALBUM PROJECTS, GET BACK/LET IT BE AND ABBEY ROAD. ADDITIONAL TUNES WERE USED FOR FUTURE SOLO PROJECTS, IN EITHER COMPLETE OR SIMILAR FORM COMPARED TO THE 1968 VERSIONS, WITH ONE IN PARTICULAR, GEORGE'S "CIRCLES", NOT SEEING THE LIGHT OF DAY UNTIL FOURTEEN YEARS AFTER ITS COMPOSITION! AFTER JOHN AND PAUL RETURNED FROM THE ACTIVITIES IN NEW YORK TO PUBLICLY LAUNCH THEIR NEW COMPANY, APPLE, IN MID-MAY OF 1968, THE BEATLES DID SOMETHING AS A GROUP THAT THEY HAD NEVER DONE PRIOR TO THIS PERIOD. THE FOUR GATHERED AT GEORGE'S HOUSE,"KINFAUNS", IN ESHER, SURREY AROUND THE THIRD WEEK OF MAY TO RECORD GROUP DEMOS FOR ALMOST THIRTY OF THE SONGS THEY HAD PENNED IN RISHIKESH. WHILE THE INDIVIDUAL BEATLES HAD ALL RECORDED HOME DEMOS BEFORE, THE GROUP GENERALLY REHEARSED THEIR SONGS AT EMI EITHER AFTER HAVING HEARD THE SOLO DEMOS, OR SIMPLY AFTER HAVING THE WRITER (S) IN QUESTION SHOW THE OTHERS THE CHORD CHANGES, ETC., IN PERSON. HOWEVER, NEVER BEFORE (AND NEVER AGAIN) DID THEY JOIN TOGETHER TO UNDERTAKE SOMETHING OF THIS RUDIMENTARY NATURE. RECORDED ON GEORGE'S FOUR TRACK EQUIPMENT, THE TRACKS WERE MIXED TO MONO BY GEORGE, AND JOHN, PAUL AND RINGO EACH RECEIVED COPIES OF THIS REDUCTION TAPE. GEORGE HELD ON TO THE "KINFAUNS" MASTERS, AND IN 1996 WAS ABLE TO CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF THEM IN THE CREDITS OF THE THIRD EDITION OF THE BEATLES ANTHOLOGY CD SERIES. GEOFF EMERICK NEWLY MIXED SOME OF THESE SONGS TO STEREO AT THE TIME OF ANTHOLOGY'S PRODUCTION, BUT JOHN'S COPY OF THE ORIGINAL MONO TAPE REDUCTION IS THE SOURCE FOR CD ONE OF THIS SET. WHILE BITS OF THIS TAPE HAVE BEEN HEARD ON THE LOST LENNON TAPES (BOTH THE RADIO AND BAG RECORDS LP SERIES), AS WELL AS PREVIOUS, INFERIOR CD ISSUES, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS COPY OF JOHN'S TAPE HAS BEEN HEARD IN ITS ENTIRETY, IN CRISP, GLORIOUS MONO. THE "ESHER TAPES" REPRESENT ONE LAST GREAT GASP OF THE BEATLES WORKING AS A UNIT, DISPLAYING THE JOY AND SPONTANEITY FOR WHICH THEY HAD ONCE BEEN REVERED. THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S ACTIVITIES HAD SEVERELY CURTAILED SUCH LOOSENESS IN THE RECORDING PROCESS, WHAT WITH THE TECHNICAL MARVELS OF THE "STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER/PENNY LANE" 45, SERGEANT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, AND THE OTHER FABS' PSYCHEDELIC WONDERS OF 1967. HERE WERE THE FOUR BEATLES, PLAYING AND SINGING WITH ABANDON IN A WONDERFULLY LOOSE ATMOSPHERE. MUCH OF THE RECORDING ACTUALLY ECHOES THE 1965 BEACH BOYS PARTY! LP IN TERMS OF THE TAPING'S LAID BACK APPROACH (NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT, AS ON PARTY! ONE CAN HEAR CONVERSATIONS IN THE BACKGROUND THROUGHOUT MOST OF THE TAPE!). NEVER AGAIN WOULD THE FAB FOUR SOUND THIS HAPPY; THE UPCOMING SESSIONS FOR THE BEATLES WOULD CEMENT THAT FACT. ...TO CHAOS ANOTHER IMPORTANT OCCURRENCE DURING THE TRIP TO INDIA WAS THAT WHILE JOHN WAS IN RISHIKESH, HE BEGAN TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER PURSUING A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WOMAN WHO HAD BEEN A SHADOWY PRESENCE IN HIS LIFE DURING THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND A HALF: AVANT GARDE ARTISTE YOKO ONO. SHE SENT HIM LETTERS CONSTANTLY DURING THE TRIP, OFTEN SIMPLY FEATURING CRYPTIC, MONOSYLLABIC PHRASES. JOHN WAS ENTRANCED, AND WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE UK, HE BEGAN HIS PURSUIT OF YOKO, CONSUMMATING THE RELATIONSHIP IN MID-MAY OF 1968. AN IMMEDIATE RESULT OF JOHN'S NEWFOUND LOVE WAS THAT YOKO BECAME A CONSTANT PRESENCE AT ALL BEATLES-RELATED ACTIVITIES FROM JUNE 1968 ON. FROM FILM PREMIERES (YELLOW SUBMARINE ON JULY 17TH), TO PHOTO SESSIONS (THE MULTIPLE LOCATION "MAD DAY" PHOTO SESSION ON JULY 28TH, THOUGH SHE WAS NOT PICTURED IN THE PHOTOS), TO RECORDING SESSIONS (THE UPCOMING "WHITE ALBUM" DATES), MS. ONO WAS PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR AT ALL OF THESE EVENTS. ONE SUCH HAPPENING WAS THE MIXING SESSION ON JUNE 4TH 1968 FOR THE "WHITE ALBUM" VERSION OF "REVOLUTION", "REVOLUTION #1", WHICH WAS RECORDED ON MAY 31ST. DISC TWO OF THIS COLLECTION FEATURES THE UNEDITED, OFFLINE RECORDING OF THIS EMI MIXING DATE, MADE ON JOHN'S PORTABLE TAPE RECORDER.THE THOUGHT OF HEARING THIS TAPE SOUNDS EXTREMELY TANTALIZING, PARTICULARLY WHEN ONE IS AWARE THAT THIS ORIGINAL, "SLOW" RENDERING OF THE LENNON CLASSIC (THE FIRST TRACK TO BE WORKED ON FOR THE BEATLES) WAS ORIGINALLY OVER TEN MINUTES IN LENGTH. HOWEVER, PAUL AND THE OTHERS OBJECTED STRONGLY TO THE IDEA THAT THIS VERSION SHOULD BE ISSUED AS A SINGLE, AS JOHN HAD INTENDED. MACCA'S GRIPE WAS PRIMARILY THAT THE MIDDLE SECTION FEATURED YOKO ADDING HER OWN UNIQUE VOCAL STYLINGS TO THE PROCEEDINGS, NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT TEN MINUTE SINGLES WEREN'T A PARTICULARLY COMMERCIAL CONCEPT THEN OR NOW (NOT THAT ANY OF THIS MATTERED TO JOHN OR YOKO). IN THE END, JOHN CAPITULATED AND THE "REVOLUTION #1" SINGLE IDEA WAS SCRAPPED. HOWEVER, THE TEN-MINUTE VERSION WAS MIXED DOWN, AND THIS LENNON ARCHIVE TAPE CAPTURES THE MIXING SESSION. DUE TO ITS OFFLINE NATURE, WE HEAR MUSIC WE'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE BUT, UNFORTUNATELY, ON TOP OF THE TUNE WE ALSO HEAR YOKO PONTIFICATING ON ANY MATTER THAT CROSSES HER MIND. IF THIS HAPPENED OCCASIONALLY, IT WOULD BE BAD ENOUGH; HOWEVER, THE MOTOR MOUTH ANTICS OCCUR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE TAPE, AS THE FABS PLAY ON IN THE BACKGROUND. THIS MAKES FOR A TAXING LISTENING EXPERIENCE AT BEST, BUT ONE CAN ARGUE THAT IT'S NO WORSE THAN LISTENING TO SOMETHING LIKE "12 BAR ORIGINAL"; AT LEAST THIS TAPE IS INTERESTING TO HEAR MORE THAN ONCE! MANY MUSICAL ITEMS OF NOTE COME TO THE FORE, ONCE THE LISTENER CAN TUNE OUT THE JABBERING. THE FINAL SIX MINUTES OF "REVOLUTION #1" (WHICH WENT UNUSED ON THE "WHITE ALBUM", BUT ARE HEARD HERE) WERE USED AS A FOUNDATION ON WHICH TO BUILD THE "MUSIQUE CONCRETE" "REVOLUTION #9", UTILIZING TAPE LOOPS, LIVE "VOCAL PERFORMANCES" AND OTHER RECORDED ODDITIES TO BUILD A DENSE COLLAGE OF SOUND. WHILE JOHN (OR MORE SPECIFICALLY YOKO) MAY HAVE EVEN PUSHED FOR THIS "TAKE" TO BE A SINGLE, THIS WAS HAPPILY NOT TO BE. IN THE END, THE BAND RECORDED A FASTER, FAR SUPERIOR VERSION OF "REVOLUTION" IN JULY OF 1968, FOR PLACEMENT ON THE B-SIDE OF THE BEATLES' FIRST SINGLE ON THEIR OWN APPLE LABEL, PAUL'S SEVEN MINUTE OPUS, "HEY JUDE". THE SHORTENED "REVOLUTION #1" AND THE NINE MINUTE "REVOLUTION #9" WOULD BOTH END UP ON THE FOURTH SIDE OF THE DOUBLE LP "WHITE ALBUM". DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS ARCHIVE TAPE IS NOT SOMETHING A PERSON WOULD PULL OUT OFTEN FOR HIS OR HER LISTENING PLEASURE, IT IS STILL A FASCINATING DOCUMENT OF THE DISINTEGRATION OF A BAND, AND THE GENESIS OF A DYSFUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIP. WHILE IT IS ADMIRABLE THAT JOHN FOUND WHAT HE WANTED IN A PERSONAL SENSE WITH YOKO, IT IS ALSO UNFORTUNATE HE COULD NOT SEPARATE HIS ROMANTIC LIFE FROM HIS ART. HE WOULD HAVE, OF COURSE, DISAGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY WITH THAT SENTIMENT, BUT IT CAN BE ARGUED THAT IN A PURELY MUSICAL SENSE, JOHN WAS "HELD BACK" DURING THE PERIOD FROM MID-1968 TO LATE 1969, WRITING ONLY A FEW SONGS THAT WERE AMONG HIS BEST. ONE LISTEN TO THIS "REVOLUTION #1" MIXING TAPE GIVES AMPLE EVIDENCE AS TO WHY THIS WAS THE CASE. ONCE HE GOT BACK IN TOUCH WITH HIS OWN MUSE, PARTICULARLY AFTER KICKING HIS HEROIN ADDICTION IN MID-1969, THE COMPOSITIONAL FIRE RETURNED WITH SONGS LIKE "INSTANT KARMA (WE ALL SHINE ON)" AND THOSE WHICH WOULD END UP ON HIS FIRST SOLO LP. TELLINGLY, THESE WERE NOT WRITTEN FOR THE BEATLES.

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 1 (8 CDS) LONDON, UK 196 REHEARSAL VIGOTONE REHEARSAL AT TWICKENHAM (1/3-14/69) I HAVE THE ORIGINAL, SO MY COPIES WILL BE KILLERS.

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC ONE FEATURES A GREAT DEAL OF PREVIOUSLY UNHEARD "ALL THINGS MUST PASS" REHEARSALS, WHICH INCLUDES GEORGE'S "YOU'RE SO FULL OF SHIT" COMMENT TO PAUL

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC TWO: FEATURES A GREAT DEAL OF HISTORICALLY IMPORTANT RECORDINGS. FIRST OFF ARE FRAGMENTS OF A LENGTHY CONVERSATION ABOUT THE PLANNED LIVE PERFORMANCE.

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC THREE CONTAINS A NUMBER OF INTERESTING ITEMS, INCLUDING A LENGTHY MCCARTNEY PIANO SESSION. THE UNQUESTIONABLE HIGHLIGHT, THOUGH, IS THE EARLIEST KNOWN PERFORMANCE OF "GET BACK".

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC FOUR COMPLETES THE JANUARY 7TH DEBATE OVER THE FATE OF THE LIVE PERFORMANCE AND, IN FACT, THE BEATLES AS A GROUP, AS GEORGE SUGGESTS THAT PERHAPS "A DIVORCE" IS IN ORDER.

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC FIVE JOHN'S ATTEMPTS TO LEAD THE BAND THROUGH REHEARSALS OF "ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" PROVE DISASTROUS, AND THE GROUP ONLY COMES TO LIFE WHEN THEY PERFORM OLDIES SUCH AS "ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC".

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC SIX FOCUSES PRIMARILY ON THE JANUARY 8TH SESSIONS, FEATURING THE BEST GROUP PERFORMANCE OF "ALL THINGS MUST PASS". ALSO OF NOTE IS THE EARLIEST KNOWN PERFORMANCE OF PAUL'S "ANOTHER DAY".

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC SEVEN CHRONICLES THE JANUARY 9TH SESSION. NOTE PAUL'S SLY COMMENT ON "ORIENTAL INFLUENCE" THAT WHICH HE WISHES WASN'T PRESENT.

BEATLES - GET BACK JOURNALS 2 DISC EIGHT BEGINS WITH GEORGE'S DRAMATIC POST-LUNCH DEPARTURE FROM THE GROUP, ON JANUARY 10TH, AND THE OTHER BEATLES SURPRISING REACTION (OR VIRTUAL NON-REACTION) TO IT. THE REMAINDER OF THE DISC CONTAINS A NUMBER OF GEORGE-LESS PERFORMANCES OF VARYING DEGREES OF INTEREST (IF NOT MUSICAL QUALITY).

THIS IS A MUST FOR EVERY BEATLES COLLECTOR.

    16. Saturday Club Recorded at The Playhouse Theatre on Monday May 2nd 1966, and broadcast   a month later on Saturday June 4th as part of Saturday Club. It was the  400th  edition of Saturday Club.  She Loves You  RS1 Geoff Emerick attempted to produce stereo mixes of this track  from  the mono master of the single, as the original two-track tapes had long   been destroyed. He tried twice, here they are.  She Loves You RS2 - version 2 This version completed in the allotted 90 minutes  was  deemed 'best'. It is the first time that these remixes have appeared   and are exclusive to the Mythology series.

BEATLES MYTHOLOGY VOL 3 (CD 1)

      1. When I'm Sixty Four
Remixed at Abbey Road on Thursday December 29th 1966. This is remix   6 (RM6), and marked best until Paul suggested on Friday December 30th that   they scrap all previous mixes and start again, speeding up the new mix to   raise it by as much as a semitone.
      2. Strawberry Fields Forever
        Remix 3 from take 7 - Recorded on Tuesday November 29th 1966.
      3. Strawberry Fields Forever

      7. It's All Too Much
Recorded at De Lane Lea Recording Studios, 128 Kingsway, London  WC2  on Thursday May 25th 1967. This is the mixdown reduction from Take 4   that was later featured in the Yellow Submarine film. Remixed on   Wednesday/Thursday October 16th/17th 1968 and numbered as Take 196!

It has not been heard in this form since that date.

      1. Across The Universe
Take 8 - Recording started at Abbey Road on Sunday February 4th  1968  and finished on Thursday February 8th 1968. Here is Take 8 the version   without the Wildlife effects for the first time ever.
      2. Hey Bulldog
Stereo remix from Take 10 - Another first. The 1997 - 1999 remixed   version from the re-release of the Yellow Submarine film. Originally  recorded  on Sunday February 11th 1968 in Studio Three, Abbey Road this  version contains  a different vocal mix from that of the original film  and album release.  Kenny Everett Interview Recorded by Kenny Everett on Thursday June 6th 1968 at Abbey Road,   while more work on Ringo's Don't Pass Me By was taking place. This  is   the full version of the interviews that Kenny taped, and they  are different  from the broadcast show of Sunday June 9th 1968. George  is evident on this  recording but was not on the Radio One airing. This  clean version also differs  from the Italian Apple promotional pressing  titled "Una Sensazionale Intervista  Dei Beatles".  The source  of this recording is from Kenny Everett's  private acetate collection.  Ob La Di, Ob La Da  Take 5 - Recorded on Wednesday July 3rd 1968 this was the basic  take  that further overdubs would be added to on Thursday July 4th and Friday   July 5th 1968. The Beatles recorded a remake on Monday July 8th, thus  rejecting  this version. While My Guitar Gently Weeps Take 1 - A very clean version of this beautiful George Harrison   composition, Recorded in Abbey Road Studio 2 on Thursday July 25th 1968.   It contains an extra verse and George's comment to the control room "Let's   hear that back!"
      3. Frost On Saturday John and Yoko appeared live on the fourth edition of David Frost's   new interview series. Recorded and transmitted on Saturday August 24th  1968  from Studio One, Wembley Studios, Wembley. John and Yoko discussed  their  views about "vibrations" and about Art. The word "Beatles" scarcely  came  into the conversation until the end .....  Frost On Saturday: Hey Jude Not documented in any text before, and that includes the excellent   Mark Lewisohn "The Complete Beatles Chronicle" was this first public  airing  of Hey Jude. As the programme's end credits appear John looks  surprised that  he can hear Hey Jude being played through the studio  speakers. Then in typical  Lennon style he joins in!!! First time ever  on CD. Step Inside Love
Recorded on Monday September 16th 1968 as an ad-lib piece from Take   35 of Paul's I Will composition.  Los Paranoias As above - this is the complete version that differs from the Apple   Anthology release.
      4. The Way You Look Tonight Next comes an unreleased McCartney ditty which also formed part  of  Take 35 of I Will. Can You Take Me Back
Take 19 of I Will provided this untitled and uncopyrighted ditty.  It  was used in between Cry Baby Cry and Revolution 9 in part on The White   Album, but for the first time we hear the complete run through of this  another  unreleased McCartney tune White LP Interview - Radio Luxembourg To promote the release of The Beatles (White LP) Paul gave this  interview  to the former Australian radio DJ Tony Macarthur. He was the new  programme  director of Radio Luxembourg. Recorded at Paul's house at 7, Cavendish   Avenue on Wednesday November 20th 1968 it was aired the following day  between  7.30 - 9.30 pm. It is interesting to hear Paul talk honestly  about the songs  on The White LP at the time of its release, instead  of rewriting the story  many years later! This is another first for  CD.

PAUL & DONOVAN ACOUSTIC SESSION, ABBEY ROAD OUTTAKES. NOT BAD BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER. THE MCCARTNEY / DONOVAN STUFF WAS THROWN IN AS FILLER IN MY OPINION. THERE IS AN UNFORTUNATE DROPOUT IN "GOLDEN SLUMBERS" BUT NEVERTHELESS IT'S GREAT TO HEAR AN ALTERNATE VERSION. THE VERSION OF "OH! DARLING" IS INTERESTING. YOU CAN HEAR JOHN GETTING INTO IT! THIS DISC IS WORTH A TRADE!

BEATLES - NORTHWEST NIGHTS (2CDS) SEATTLE AND VANCOUVER CONCERTS FROM 1964. (MUCH BETTER SOUND) THE VANCOUVER BOOTLEG HAS LONG BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES, NOT BECAUSE THE CONCERT ITSELF WAS ESPECIALLY GOOD - IT WASN'T, AND THE AUDIENCE'S ZEAL LED THE GROUP TO CURTAIL ITS SET. STILL, THE BOOT OF THE AUGUST 22, 1964 VANCOUVER SHOW OFFERED SOMETHING THAT STRAIGHT CONCERT RECORDINGS DON'T: A VIEW OF A BEATLES APPEARANCE FROM SEVERAL PERSPECTIVES. IN ADDITION TO THE CONCERT, RECORDED BY A LOCAL RADIO STATION AND PLAYED STRAIGHT, THERE IS A SECOND VERSION OF THE CONCERT WITH DESCRIPTIVE COMMENTARY FROM ONE OF THE STATION'S REPORTERS. AND IN ADDITION TO THE PRE-SHOW PRESS CONFERENCE, THERE IS A LENGTHY AND AMUSING SEGMENT RECORDED IN THE PRESS ROOM AS THE PRESS AWAITED THE GROUP.

BEATLES - ONE BEFORE 911 (2CDS) EXHAUSTIVE COLLECTION OF "WITH THE BEATLES" ERA STUDIO SESSIONS INCLUDING ALBUM IN STEREO AND LATER REMIXES. AMAZING!

BEATLES - PETER SELLERS TAPE 1968 LONDON, UK 12 WHITE ALBUM 1 BACK IN THE USSR 2:46 22/23 AUGUST '68, EMI TAKE 6, UNIQUE MONO REMIX. ESSENTIALLY IDENTICAL TO THE RELEASED VERSION, EXCEPT THAT THE JET NOISES AT THE VERY END ARE DIFFERENT. 2 ROCKY RACCOON 3:46 15 AUGUST '68, EMI TAKE 10, MONO REMIX 1. IDENTICAL TO THE COMMERCIAL VERSION. THERE IS A VERY BRIEF BIT AT THE START WHERE JOHN AND PAUL SING ABOUT HALF A DOZEN WORDS OF AN UNKOWN SONG. 3 WILD HONEY PIE 1:06 20 AUGUST '68, EMI TAKE 1, MONO REMIX 8. IDENTICAL TO THE CV, BUT WITHOUT ONE SECOND OF STUDIO CHAT AT THE BEGINNING AND THE END. 4 MOTHER NATURE'S SON 2:46 9/20 AUGUST '68, EMI TAKE 26, MONO REMIX 8. IDENTICAL COMMERCIAL VERSION. 5 SEXY SADIE 3:53 13/21 AUGUST '68, EMI TAKE 117. IDENTICAL TO THE CV UP TO THE FADE, WHICH IS ALMOST FORTY SECONDS LONGER. THE MISSING MATERIAL WAS EDITED OUT, EARLIER MIX. 6 DON'T PASS ME BY 4:09 5/6/12/22 JULY '68, EMI TAKE 7, WITH EDIT PIECE. ALTHOUGH THE MIX IS VERY MUCH THE SAME, THIS VERSION CONTAINS AN EXTRA VERSE. ON THE CV. AFTER RINGO'S COUNT FROM 1 TO 8. WE GET A CHORUS AND A FADE. HERE, WE GET ANOTHER VERSE (SAME LYRICS AS VERSE 1), CHORUS AND FADE. CHAT, APPLAUSE, AND AFRICAN MUSIC FROM RINGO 1:21 7 YER BLUES 4:08 13/20 AUGUST '68, EMI EDIT OF EDIT PIECE AND TAKES 17/16. THE FIRST PART (UP TO 3:17) OF THE SONG IS FROM TAKE 17; THE LAST PART IS FROM TAKE 16 (ITSELF A REDUCTION OF TAKE 6); RINGO'S COUNT-IN WAS RECORDED ON AUGUST 20 AND EDITED ON. 8 GOOD NIGHT 3:03 22 JULY '68, EMI TAKE 34. THERE ARE TWO OBVIOUS DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS AND THE CV. THE FIRST, IT IS SLIGHTLY SHORTER (ABOUT TWO MEASURES HAVE BEEN REMOVED AFTER THE SECOND VERSE, JUST BEFORE RINGO BEGINS TO HUM). SECOND, THERE ARE CHILDREN'S VOICES AT THE END WHERE HE WISHES EVERYBODY "GOODNIGHT." BECAUSE THE ORCHESTRATION IS SO INCREDIBLY LUSH, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETECT ANY SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO. THE SONG WAS MONO MIXED FOR LP ON 11 OCTOBER, BUT THERE WERE ALSO SIX MONO MIXES AT THE END OF THE 23 JULY SESSIONS, AND THIS IS MOST LIKELY RM 6 FROM THAT SESSION. 9 EVERYBODY'S GOT SOMETHING TO HIDE EXCEPT FOR ME AND MY MONKEY 2:25 27 JUNE 1 & 23/JULY '68, EMI TAKE 12. IDENTICAL TO THE CV EXCEPT FOR VERY SLIGHT DIFFERENCES IN BACKING VOCALS WHICH ARE ATTRIBUTED TO MIXING. THE CV WOULD HAVE BEEN MONO REMIX 5, SO THIS MAY BE AN EARLIER VERSION. 10 OB-LA-DI OB-LA-DA 3:13 8/9/11/15 JULY '68, EMI TAKE 23. THERE ARE A FEW INTERESTING DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS AND THE CV. THE TAPE BEGINS WITH A FEW SECONDS OF CHAT AND RIFFS, THERE HAND CLAPS DURING THE INTRO (THE MONO CV DOES NOT HAVE THEM, ALTHOUGH THE STEREO CV DOES), AND AT THE VERY END, AFTER JOHN SAYS "THANK YOU," HE ADDS, "I'M SURE." THERE WAS A FINAL MONO MIX FOR THE LP VERSION ON 12 OCTOBER, SO THIS IS PROBABLY THE LAST REMIX FROM 15 JULY, MR 21. 11 BLACKBIRD 2:21 11 JUNE '68, EMI TAKE 32.THERE ARE A FEW DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS AND THE CV. THE MOST OBVIOUS IS THE LACK OF BIRD NOISES. ASIDE FROM THAT, THERE ARE A FEW EXTRA NOTES ON THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR INTRO AND A SLIGHT ECHO ON PAUL'S VOICE (ALSO THE LITTLE VOICE THAT SAYS "PLAY" AT THE VERY BEGINNING IS MISSING). THE CV WAS RM 6. THIS IS PROBABLY AN EARLIER MIX. 12 NOT GUILTY 4:088/9/12 AUGUST '68, EMI TAKE 102, WITH COUNT IN. THIS BRINGS US TO A TOTAL OF FOUR DIFFERENT MIXES OF TAKE 102, THE FIRST AND PRESUMABLY EARLIEST, IS THIS MONO MIX. 13 PETER SELLERS TALKS WITH THE BEATLES DURING THE GET BACK SESSIONS.

BEATLES - SWEETEST APPLES - NUMBER: ROBBER SOUL, RS-39434-ABP MADE: 1994  TOTAL PLAYING TIME: 77:09

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 1 JOINS THE SESSIONS JUST BEFORE 11:00 AM ON JANUARY 3RD (THE JANUARY 2ND SESSION BEING BYPASSED ON THIS SET BECAUSE IT WAS COMPLETELY DOCUMENTED ON YELLOW DOG'S "ULTIMATE COLLECTION" SERIES). THIS DISC IS HIGHLIGHTED BY A TRIO OF EARLY LENNON-MCCARTNEY COMPOSITIONS (TRACKS 16 THROUGH 18), WHICH ARE OTHERWISE LOST, AS WELL A SLEW OF ENJOYABLE "OLDIES" THAT THE BAND OFTEN USED TO WARM UP WITH. BRAND NEW TO CD ARE EARLY VERSIONS OF "I'VE GOT A FEELING", "DON'T LET ME DOWN" AND "MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER", AND A RATHER PROVOCATIVELY-WORDED IMPROVISATION LED BY PAUL, DUBBED "YOU WEAR YOUR WOMAN OUT", FOR LACK OF A MORE FORMAL TITLE

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 2 ANOTHER DISC, WHICH INTERMINGLES EMBRYONIC VERSIONS OF THE BEATLES' OWN COMPOSITIONS (INCLUDING SOME FRESH GLIMPSES OF "GET BACK" RIGHT AT ITS MOMENT OF GENESIS!) WITH EXCURSIONS INTO THEIR ROCK AND ROLL ROOTS. THE ADMIRATION THAT EACH OF THE BEATLES HELD FOR THE LIKES OF GENE VINCENT, CHUCK BERRY, LITTLE RICHARD, LARRY WILLIAMS AND EDDIE COCHRAN COULDN'T BE MORE EVIDENT, AS THEY USUALLY FIND MORE ENERGY TO PLAY SONGS FROM THEIR YOUTH THAN WORK ON THEIR OWN MATERIAL. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT TRACKS 1 AND 9, WHILE NOT NECESSARILY "NEW", ARE FAR, FAR MORE COMPLETE HERE THAN ON PREVIOUS ISSUES

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 3 THE SOMETIMES MISERABLE TWICKENHAM SESSIONS REACHED THEIR HIGH POINT, BOTH IN TERMS OF GENERAL MOOD AND PERFORMANCE QUALITY, ON JANUARY 8TH AND 9TH. THE NEW SONGS WERE REALLY STARTING TO COME INTO FOCUS, AS SOME VERY LIVELY PERFORMANCES ON THIS DISC (TRACKS 2 THROUGH 5, 8, 12 AND 13, FOR EXAMPLE) ATTEST. PAUL IN PARTICULAR IS OVERFLOWING WITH ENTHUSIASM THROUGH OUT THESE PERFORMANCES, FROM HIS SPIRITED "GOOD MORNING!" IN THE MIDDLE OF "I'VE GOT A FEELING" (TRACK 5) TO HIS FRANTIC SHOUTS THAT END A CHARGED, EARLY VERSION OF "GET BACK" (TRACK 18).

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 4 GEORGE'S ABRUPT DEPARTURE FROM THE GROUP ON JANUARY 10TH HIGHLIGHTS THIS DISC. WHILE THE MASTER TAPE UNFORTUNATELY CUTS OUT A SPLIT SECOND AFTER GEORGE ANNOUNCES THAT HE'S LEAVING THE BAND (DID A BEATLE OR BEATLE ASSISTANT QUICKLY GET THEIR FINGER ON THE STOP BUTTON?), FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME WE CAN ACTUALLY HEAR GEORGE'S FOOTSTEPS AS HE WALKS AWAY FROM THE GROUP! NOTE THE INCREDIBLY OFF-THE-WALL PERFORMANCES THAT FOLLOW GEORGE'S EXIT (TRACKS 12 THROUGH 20). ALSO NEW HERE IS A ROLLICKING ATTEMPT AT "GET BACK" BY THE GEORGE-LESS THREETLES, AND A LONGER, COMPLETE LOOK AT THE PREMIERE OF PAUL'S "THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR".

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 5 THERE'S QUITE A BIT OF NEWLY-AVAILABLE MATERIAL ON THIS DISC, AND WHAT ISN'T NEW IS EITHER LONGER, PRESENTED IN BETTER QUALITY, OR BOTH. WITH THE MOVE TO THE BEATLES' STUDIO IN THE BASEMENT OF THE APPLE BUILDING, THE SESSIONS NOW REVOLVED (SOMEWHAT LOOSELY) AROUND RECORDING RELEASABLE TAKES. SO AFTER THE USUAL SPATE OF WARMUP NUMBERS, REHEARSAL AND GENERALLY CLOWNING, SERIOUS ATTEMPTS AT RECORDING "DIG A PONY", "I'VE GOT A FEELING" AND DON'T LET ME DOWN" BEGAN. MID-WAY THROUGH THE SESSIONS BILLY PRESTON ARRIVED AND WAS IMMEDIATELY OFFERED A TEMPORARY SPOT WITH THE BAND (TRACK 24).

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 6 A FLOOD OF NEW MATERIAL, FROM MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO RECORD "I'VE GOT A FEELING", "GET BACK" AND "TWO OF US", TO A FUN INTERLUDE WITH "TWENTY FLIGHT ROCK" (FINALLY AVAILABLE!). IT'S POSSIBLE THAT A MINUTE OF THE JAM HEARD ON TRACK 10 WAS WHAT GLYN JOHNS RECORDED ON MULTI-TRACK TAPE AND NAMED "BLUES". NOTE THE RECORDING DATES FOR THE "GET BACK" ALBUM VERSIONS OF "DIG A PONY" AND "I'VE GOT A FEELING" WERE WRONG IN BOTH MARK LEWISOHN'S "RECORDING SESSIONS" AND "GET BACK"!

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 7 THIS DISC SHOWS WHAT THE BEATLES DID IN BETWEEN TAKES AND DURING EQUIPMENT CHANGEOVERS TO ENJOY THEMSELVES - NAMELY PLAYING SONGS OF LONNIE DONNEGAN AND CHUCK BERRY. WE ALSO FINALLY GET TO HEAR THE COMPLETE VERSION OF JOHN AND PAUL HARMONIZING ON THE EVERLY BROTHERS CLASSIC "BYE LOVE" (UP TO NOW WE ONLY HAD A TANTALIZING TWO SECOND CLIP!), AS WELL AS THE BEGINNING OF A VERY COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT THE RECORDING OG GEORGE'S "FOR YOU BLUE". AND WHAT COULD BE MORE FUN THAN JOHN SINGING A VERSION OF THE VERY FIRST SONG PAUL EVER WROTE (TRACK 21).

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 8 MULTIPLE TAKES OF "LET IT BE", ALL NEVER HEARD BEFORE, ARE THE FOCAL POINT OF THE DISC. AN EVEN LONGER TAPE THAT ANYONE EVEN KNEW EXISTED OF "DIG IT" IS HERE AS WELL, CLOCKING IN AT OVER 15 MINUTES! GEORGE PLAYS NICE ACOUSTIC VERSIONS OF "ISN'T IT A PITY" AND "WINDOW, WINDOW" AND FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME "RIP IT UP" CAN BE HEARD IN ITS COMPLETE FORM.

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 9 FEATURES A PLETHORA OF NEVER-BEFORE-HEARD TAKES OF "THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD", CULMINATING WITH THE UNADULTERATED VERSION OF THE PERFORMANCE THAT WAS DRESSED UP FOR THE "LET IT BE" ALBUM. (NOTE THAT THE BOOK "GET BACK" WAS WAY OFF ON THE DATE FOR THIS ONE!) WE ALSO GET THREE JANUARY 26TH TAKES OF "LET IT BE" (THE LAST OF WHICH WOUNDED UP ON THE GLYN JOHNS ACETATES THAT WERE BROADCAST ON AMERICAN RADIO IN 1969), AS WELL AS SOME FINE EXAMPLES OF THE BEATLES JAMMING AND ENJOYING THEMSELVES WITH SOME OLDIES.

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 10 CONSISTS ALMOST ENTIRELY OF NEVER-BEFORE-HEARD MATERIAL. WHILE RECORDING "GET BACK" WAS CLEARLY THE BAND'S TOP PRIORITY ON JANUARY 27TH, THEY ALSO FOUND TIME TO WORK ON "LET IT BE", "THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD" AND GEORGE'S NEW SONG, "OLD BROWN SHOE". IT SEEMS POSSIBLE (LIKELY, IN FACT) THAT TRACK 7 IS WHAT GLYN JOHNS CAPTURED ON MULTI-TRACK TAPE AND DUBBED "UNTITLED JAMMING". TRACK 20 IS THE PERFORMANCE THAT WAS USED FOR BOTH THE SINGLE AND ALBUM VERSIONS OF "GET BACK", HEARD HERE IN ITS ORIGINAL, AND UNDOCTORED FORM.

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 11 INTERESTING ITEMS ABOUND, INCLUDING TWO UNIQUE VERSIONS OF "I'VE GOT A FEELING" (TRACKS 10 & 11) WHERE JOHN SINGS EVERYTHING (WITH A LITTLE ASSISTANCE FROM BILLY PRESTON), AS PAUL IS TEMPORARILY AWAY FROM THE SESSION. WE ALSO GET TO HEAR (FINALLY!) THE 1969 VERSION OF THE BAND'S FIRST SINGLE, "LOVE ME DO", WHICH IS SLOWED TO A BLUES TEMPO WITH THE BEATLES' HEARTS IN THE RIGHT PLACE, EVEN IF ALL THE NOTES AREN'T. TRACK 16 IS THE VERSION OF "GET BACK" THAT HAD ITS CODA APPROPRIATED FOR USE ON THE SINGLE, THE "GET BACK" ALBUM, AND THE TAIL END OF THE "LET IT BE" FILM. IT'S HEARD IN ITS NATURAL CONTEXT FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME HERE. TRACKS 17 AND 19 WERE BOTHUSED FOR THE SINGLE VERSION OF "DON'T LET ME DOWN".

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 12 THE BEATLES SPENT MOST OF THE LATTER PORTION OF THE JANUARY 28TH SESSION WORKING ON SONGS THEY'D NEVER GET A CHANCE TO COMPLETE DURING THE "GET BACK" PERIOD. EARLY VERSIONS OF "SOMETHING" AND "I WANT YOU" ARE ESPECIALLY INTERESTING. MUCH OF THE JANUARY 29TH SESSION (HEARD ON TRACKS 13 THROUGH 21 AND ALL OF DISC 13) WAS SPENT TAKING INVENTORY OF ALL THE PERFECTED SONGS, AND RUNNING THROUGH THEM ONCE OR TWICE TO MAKE CERTAIN THEY COULD BE PLAYED AT THE SHOW THE FOLLOWING DAY. THEIR VOCAL PERFORMANCES ARE NOTABLY TAME DURING THE "ROOFTOP REHEARSAL", AS THEY ATTEMPT TO SAVE THEIR VOICES.

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 13 AFTER FINISHING THEIR INVENTORY OF LIVE SHOW CANDIDATES (TRACKS 1 THROUGH 4), THE BEATLES SPEND SOME TIME EXPERIMENTING WITH NEW SONGS AND ENJOYING SOME OLDIES. JOHN USURPS GEORGE'S ROLL OF LEAD SINGER FOR A LOOSE VERSION OF "SOMETHING", AND BILLY PRESTON TRADES VOCALS WITH JOHN ON A RAUCOUS "I WANT YOU (SHE'S SO HEAVY)". THE BAND REVISITS "DIG IT", BUT WITH A FASTER TEMPO, WITH JOHN ACTUALLY RECALLING A NUMBER OF THE LYRICS HE HAD SUNG ON THE JANUARY 26TH VERSION (AND SINGING THE TITLES OF ALL THE LIVE SHOW CANDIDATES WHEN HE RUNS OUT OF IDEAS). A NUMBER OF ENJOYABLE BUDDY HOLLY COVERS ARE HERE AS WELL

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 14 CONTAINS AS COMPLETE A PRESENTATION OF THE JANUARY 30TH ROOFTOP CONCERT, AS WE'LL EVER HEAR. THE SHOW HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY RECONSTRUCTED FROM ALL THE AVAILABLE MATERIAL, WITH EVERYTHING (INCLUDING A LOOSE "I WANT YOU" AND THE LONG ELUSIVE "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN") RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER.

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISCS 15 REMEMBER YOUR EXCITEMENT WHEN YOU FIRST SAW THAT THE JANUARY 31ST STUDIO SESSION HAD COME OUT ON DISC? REMEMBER YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT WHEN YOU FOUND OUT IT HAD BEEN CHOPPED INTO ANNOYING LITTLE PIECES? THAT SITUATION HAS BEEN RIGHTED HERE, IN A BIG WAY. THIS DISC CONTAINS EACH AND EVERY TAKE OF "TWO OF US" AND "THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD" IN COMPLETE FORM! AND THERE'S THE BONUS OF WARM-UP AND BETWEEN-SONG JAMS AND OLDIES (INCLUDING A MUCH LONGER PRESENTATION OF "LADY MADONNA").

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 16 FEATURES A COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT THE RECORDING OF "LET IT BE". TAKE 27A WAS ISSUED WITH VARYING EDITS AND OVERDUBS AS A SINGLE AND ON THE "LET IT BE" ALBUM. TAKE 27B WAS SHOWN IN THE "LET IT BE" FILM. THE SURPRISES HERE ARE PREVIOUSLY UNDOCUMENTED ATTEMPTS AT "I WANT YOU (SHE'S SO HEAVY)" AND "OH! DARLING".

BEATLES - THIRTY DAYS (17 CDS) DISC 17 IS GLYN JOHNS VERSION OF THE GET BACK ALBUM. NO WALL OF SOUND ABOMINATION.

BEATLES - TO BE EXPECTED THIS CD IS A 'SAMPLER' DISC, FEATURING TRACKS LIFTED FROM SEVERAL CDS ISSUED ON THE STRAWBERRY, ORANGE, YELLOW DOG/CAT LABELS. GIVEN THE DIVERSITY OF SOURCES FROM WHICH THIS MATERIAL IS CULLED, THE SOUND QUALITY IS PARTICULARLY GOOD. YOU GOTTA HEAR HARRISON VERSION OF IT DON'T COME EASY. THEN CHECK OUT THE LEGITIMATE RELEASE. I HAVE ORIGINAL, SO MY COPIES WILL BE KILLERS.

  • BEATLES - TUNED TO A NATURAL E VOL 2

BEATLES - TURN ME ON DEAD MAN (2CDS) THE JOHN BARRETT COLLECTION OF RE-ENGINEERED AND REMASTERED STUDIO OUTTAKES SMUGGLED OUT OF ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS, EXCELLENT, STUDIO, A+ THROUGHOUT 1982, BARRETT WAS COMPILING AUDIO MATERIAL FOR A BEATLES MULTI-MEDIA SHOW THAT WOULD TAKE PLACE IN THE FAMED ABBEY ROAD STUDIO TWO WHILE IT WAS BEING REFURBISHED IN THE SUMMER OF 1983. WHILE THIS CATALOGING AND ASSEMBLAGE FOR THE BEATLES AT ABBEY ROAD (AS THE SHOW WAS TO BE IMAGINATIVELY TITLED) WAS OCCURRING, BARRETT WAS RUNNING CASSETTE DUBS OF SOME OF THE MORE INTERESTING MATERIAL FOR HIS OWN USE. SOME OF THE MATERIAL WAS MIXED AS HE WAS RUNNING HIS TAPES, WHILE SOME TRACKS WERE THE ORIGINAL MIXES DONE AT THE TIME OF THE RECORDING SESSIONS. BARRETT KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING; HE DUBBED OFF LEGENDARY TRACKS SUCH AS "LEAVE MY KITTEN ALONE", WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN ISSUED, AS WELL AS THE MORE INTERESTING ALTERNATE TAKES IN THE VAULTS, LIKE "NORWEGIAN WOOD" TAKE ONE. ALSO, MANY OF THE TRACKS HE DUBBED WERE STEREO MIXES OF TITLES THAT AT THE TIME HADN'T SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY IN STEREO, OR HAD SEEN LIMITED RELEASE, SUCH AS "THIS BOY".

BEATLES - WBCN GET BACK REFERENCE DISK ESSENTIALLY THIS IS A CD VERSION OF A TAPE RECORDING MADE ON SEPTEMBER 22ND 1969 (BY PERSONS UNKNOWN) OF A US RADIO DJ PLAYING A PROMO ACETATE (OR A TAPE RECORDING COPY OF A PROMO ACETATE) OF SOME EARLY GLYN JOHN'S MIXES OF LET IT BE/GET BACK TRACKS WHICH WERE ISSUED TO SOME US RADIO STATIONS IN MID TO LATE 1969. THE TAPES THEMSELVES COME FROM AN ACETATE PREPARED BY GLYN JOHNS ON MARCH 10, 1969 WHICH SOMEHOW MADE ITS WAY TO THE NORTHEASTERN USA BY LATE THAT SUMMER. ONE LONG-STANDING RUMOR HAS JOHN HIMSELF BRINGING EITHER HIS COPY OR A TAPE THEREOF WITH HIM TO CANADA ON 13 SEP. WITHIN A WEEK, BY WHATEVER MEANS, TAPES OF THIS WERE WENDING THEIR WAY SLOWLY SOUTH AND WEST. THE ENTIRE ACETATE WAS AIRED ON WKBW IN BUFFALO, NY; A WBCN BOSTON BROADCAST FOLLOWED SUIT ON 22 SEP, AND BY FALL EVERY UNDERGROUND STATION AND ITS BROTHER HAD A COPY. REVIEWS BEGAN APPEARING IN COLLEGE PAPERS AND MUSIC PUBLICATIONS SUCH AS ROLLING STONE.

BEATLES - WHITE ALBUM CHRONICLES (8CDS) "The White Album Chronicles" is an 8-disc collection of White Album track extractions and isolations created as a result of the proprietary process used to construct TOUP's 5.1 DTS mix. Discs 1-4 are the basic center, left, and right channel extractions with one original lp side per disc. All of the center channel tracks are first in lp order, followed by the left and then the right. Discs 5 and 6 are the stereo reconstructions of each side of the cv stereo mix using the above extracted tracks. Putting the center and right channel extractions together into stereo can yield interesting results for example on Rocky Raccoon where the vocal ends up on the left, the guitar in the center, and the harmonica on the right. Disc 7 consists of the best of the additional instrumental or vocal isolations extracted from the stereo mixes on the two previous discs. Disc 8 is a collection of stereo remixes using two of the 2nd pass re-extractions, most of which are different from the individual ones on disc 7.

BEATLES - MISC. - SONGS THAT WE WERE SINGING (4CDS) SONGS THE BEATLES SANG BY THE ARTISTS WHO ORIGINALLY SANG THEM. THE OVERALL SOUND QUALITY OF THIS SET IS EXCELLENT. THERE ARE ONE OR TWO GLITCHES. MOST TRACKS SEEM TO BE TAKEN FROM A TAPE SOURCE (PROBABLY CDS) BUT SOME ARE FROM VINYL. THIS COLLECTION IS GREAT.
