The duo SABINAS REX (Vlado Kormos and Jana Steiger) is back on the Pharaoh label for a second release on the new "Lil This 'n That" series, volume two, this time with their original pop-rock tune entitled, "People One and Only", written and composed by Vlado Kormos and Rod Mckuen. Vlado, a multi-instrumentalist composer, was born with rock music in his soul, and as he puts it, "born for rock and rock only"! At a very tender age, Vlado attended elementary art school in Europe, playing piano and studying all the elements that make up a truly good song with the most pleasant of melodies, which were his roots for later deep appreciation of good melodic rock. After many years of playing bass guitar and keyboard in rock bands in Europe as well as in New York City, Vlado decided two years ago to create his very own unique signature style. He teamed up with partner, Jana Steiger, and began experimenting in his home recording studio in Brooklyn, which is where he and Jana now reside. Over the years, Vlado gained invaluable experience in sound engineering through his multi instrumental background, so in 1998 he began his creative work almost entirely solo, taking charge of all instrumental and vocal tracks, programming, sound, writing, etc. "The results", comments Vlado, "were so good that they even came as a suprise to me!" The end result of his compositions (with a light smack of European dosage) contain a bit of many ingredients, of which include nice pop melodies, sweet sounding harmonies, with a touch of metal, progressive, electronic music, and clever laid back energy and easy going atmosphere. Vlado says some of his influences include Deep Purple, Yes,Saga, Asia, Phil Collins, Kansas, Erasure, Def Leppard, Malmsteen, Rammstein, Dream Theater, and others to many to mention here. Vlado notes that music can teach and nuture people in the essentials of how to live on the earth, how to love, to forgive, but can also teach how to be bad and how to hate...Jana and Vlado are saying all this and more about their music - and that behind each song, the composition is always philosophical - which generates a floorplan for emergent mental thought with nearly anyone who listens.Jana is the featured singer with Vlado the multi-instrumentalist and composer. Jana's powerful and brilliant vocals are at still mysterious as her unique appearance: she professes herself to be easily categorized as "pop-gothic witch", yet with a voice of an angel. This is indeed something the pop rock scene has been missing lately. Nice melodies, sweet sounding harmonies, simple, heavy rhythm, symphonicly sounding keyboard, rockin' guitars and always some philosopohy behind each song, each composition. While Vlado and Jana are still in the creative stage, their desire is to find other musicians in the "Big Apple" who share some of their same ideas and ideals, goals and ambitions, and to make music come alive with appeal from a pop cult following.
