Computer Stuff
Ok, you've heard the rumors for years now....Mary lives on the computer, and I'm here to tell you....it's FUN. Maybe if you lived in Crawfordville, you would live on your computer too.  It's vastly more interesting, stimulating, and informative than this burg.  So come join me!
Website Construction
These pages were made with Microsoft Front Page '98, but I have also worked with MicroSoft Word '97's built-in html Editor, I C Spider and a selection of shareware Edictors including HotDog Pro .  All in all, my advice is
  • Use Front Page 98 unless you can't afford it (reasons: ease of use in matters Java and active elements and the WYSIWYG format) - DO GET the FrontPage 98 for Dummies book as it is very helpful

  • If you can't afford Front Page, then use Microsoft Word 97 built-in Editor and the word-art features to make titles, etc. - DO NOT GET the Word 97 for Dummies book because there is nothing in there re: HTML feartures.

  • This is the one time you absolutely cannot find the shareware that matches the ease of use of the above two programs.

Netmeeting
If you can see this, there is no reason whatsoever to pay for long distance telephone calls or to use typing to speak to one another.  If you have a sound card, a set of speakers or a headphone, and a microphone with your computer, you can speak to us (or to anyone in the world) ABSOLUTELY FREE with voices.  This program is the best I have experienced as far as quality of sound and availability, although there are others you can use for this activitiy (which is called Telephony in computer lingo). AOL, Prodigy, et al
Now that Case has made his millions, he has seen the light. He no longer charges people by the milisecond to chat online, or check out the web, using his AOL for their Internet Service Provider.  Internet access should only cost you about $15per month flat fee,  Hopefully, even with AOL price reductions, you all have other ISPs by now. Also if you have one, AOL costs $10-and no busy signals. You can look up the listings of ISPs in your area - just CLICK HERE
mIRC
mIRC is the shareware program (in computer lingo it is called a "client") that all the smart folks were using with $20 flat fee ISPs while we were paying AOL. It lets you talk on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) internationally in
COLOR, or send sounds, exchange files, and more. To learn more, CLICK HERE.

PaintShop Pro
Paint Shop Pro 5.0 is a shareware program which is called an image editor  If you do not get FrontPage98 with the built-in Image Editor, this program is essential for customizing images for your website construction.  Learn how to get it, and a bit about how to use it by CLICKING HERE .

Talking in the MoonRoom (Our Own Chatroom)
When you get sick of AOL, grossed by IRC, tired of waiting for Prodigy to connect, what can you do than make your own Chat Room in your own World? Come to MoonChat in your choice of two places:  our own cyberspace connection or our little world on Virtual Places (for those that like games)....Just let us know by email where and when and we are THERE!

Virtual Places Talklogo.gif (3957 bytes)
Think of Virtual Places as another kind of AOL but one where the chatrooms are actually on websites, and people have faces that can be cartoons or even their own pictures.  When you are in Virtual Places you can take people on guided tours of your favorite websites which you view together while talking, you can play games together like Yahtzee, chess and checkers or just chat. Cool huh? Clou can learn all about the structure of VP at http://www.ubique.com/ or just Click on the talk! icon above to download the virtualplaces chat software (it will let you register your nickname andd password).  During the sign on there when it asks you to choose a room, just type the following address for our page in the line called "Location" (it looks just like an address line on the toolbar above that you use to move to different sites in Netscape or in Internet Explorer).   It will take you to our room.  Copy or write down this address: https://www.tripod.com/~The_Mooneys/moonchat.html
When you get to that room on Virtual Places, you will see instructions for making it a VP "favorite" so that you will only have to type or paste the actual address in there on your first visit.  There will also be some tips for doing things in Virtual Places.  See you there!     OR

Our Own Live Universe Moonchat
This is a private place, a chatroom owned by us, where it is pretty basic, but there are no busy signals, no huge crowds, and if you just want to chat in peace, this is the place! Just Click Here To Go To TheMoonRoom

Without giving away the secrets that Krista figures are her birthright (and come to think of it just may be her dowry), here are some of the Mooney family favorite recipes.  A lot of them are pre-Krista and fun for those of you we were in school with to bring back old memories, and some are from the fat-conscious later years.  Bon Apetit!
