"...Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness
of mans heart, and the fall through the air of a true, wise friend called Piggy." (Golding, 202).
This is showing how close Ralph was to Piggy. They were true friends and they were now separated forever.
"After all we aren't savages really and being rescued
isnt a game" (Ralph, 170).
I think he is realizing that it cant be all fun and games
on the island. That he has to make an enormous stand for what is right. Cause if he wont who will.
"There was something good about a fire. Something overwhelmingly
good." (Ralph, 163)
The fire is representing life, good, justice, and power
in the island. It is showing that!
"Piggy and Ralph, under the threat of the sky, found
themselves eager to take a place in this demented but partly secure society. They were glad to touch the brown backs of the
fence that hemmed in the terror and made it governable." (Golding, 152).
They are good friends and this is showing their closeness.
"If faces where different when lit from above or belowwhat
was a face? What was anything?"(Golding,78). This quote is about
the beastie. They were really scared of it. They could not make out its face in the darkness and they could not see if it
was anything at all.
He... gazed at the green and black mask before him, trying
to remember what Jack looked like.
(Golding, 178). Golding put this quote in to try to show
you how Ralph looks in this novel. He also wanted to show you that Ralph is a leader and he wanted to be one. After everybody
left him except for Piggy. So he tried to look at Jack to see how he looked.
Ralph too was fighting to get near, to get a handful
of that brown, vulnerable flesh. The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering.(Golding, 115). Here in this quote you
can see that Ralph was also ready to battle. Golding also showed the direct anger between these two boys which I believe is
also leading about to a big conflict between Jack and Ralph.
Im scared of him, and thats why I know him. If youre
scared of someone you hate him but you can't stop thinking about him. You kid yourself hes all right really, an then when
you see him again; its like asthma an you cant breathe. (Piggy, 93). Piggy is the most scared character of them all. He is
always scared. And here you can clearly see that Piggy has asthma. And he really cant breath very good.
Things are breaking up. I dont understand why. We began
well; we were happy. And then ...Then people started getting frightened. (Ralph, 82). Everything went bad. They were really
happy and then they got frightened. When Jack started to be a jerk, everything went bad.
He felt himself facing something ungraspable.(Golding, 32).
Ralph got really scared. He didnt really know what he was expecting.
