What is Wordprocessing?
1) It is using a computer and software program, such as Microsoft Word to
produce documents such as letters and reports.
2) It is used to enter and edit text.
What is the title
bar?
1) It is located at the top of the window, and it gives the name of the
software.
What is the menu
bar?
1) It is the horizontal bar which contains titles from which a user can
choose a variety of commands.
2) All commands are contained here, thus I go here when I am looking for
a command.
What are toolbars?
1) They are located directly below the title bar and they contain icons.
2) The Standard toolbar: contains icons or buttons used to perform
common tasks such as printing and opening documents.
3) The Formatting toolbar: contains buttons for changing character and
paragraph functions such as alignment and type styles (fonts).

How do I see additional toolbars?
1) Click the Toolbar Options (the button with the two right arrows >>) on
the toolbar and choose from the list that appears.

What is the insertion
point or cursor?
1) It is the vertical blinking line, which shows where text will appear when you
begin keying or typing.
What are scrollbars?
1) Located at the bottom and right side of the window.
2) It lets the user move up and down in the document.
What are the 4
ways I can view a document
in Word?
1) Normal View: Shows a simplified layout of the page so you
can quickly type, edit, and format text. (Headers, footers, page boundaries,
and backgrounds are not displayed)
2) Web Layout: Shows the way a document will look when it is
viewed as a Web page. (Backgrounds are visible)
3) Print Layout: Shows how a document will look when it is
printed. (All items such as headers, footers, margins, columns, and
drawing objects are displayed)
4) Outline View: Displays headings and text in outline form so
you can see the structure of your document. (Headers, footers, page
boundaries, graphics, and backgrounds do not appear)
5) How do I access these commands? They are located under View
menu or can be accessed by icons at the lower left of the screen.
What are icons
or toolbar buttons?
1) Small pictures on the toolbars to remind you of each button's function.
2) Moving the mouse over the icon will display the name of the icon button.

Wrap?
1) It automatically wraps or returns words to the next line
because they are "wrapped around".
What is the Print
Preview command?
1) It allows you to look at a document as it will appear when printed.
2) The user should always preview a document before it is printed.
3) Using the Print Preview toolbar, access each of the new buttons, which will
allow you to Zoom in; Magnify; view one Page or multiple pages, view the Full
Screen or Close the Preview
What is the
task bar?
1) It shows the Start button, the Quick Launch toolbar, and all open
programs.

1) A separate window on the right-hand side of the opening screen. 2) It
opens automatically when you start an Office application.
3) It contains commonly used commands that pertain to each application.
4) How do I access it?
Select View, then Task Pane from the menu bar.

ways in which documents can be printed?
1) Portrait orientation: This is the default, and the documents are longer
(vertical) than they are wide (8 1/2 X 11)
2) Landscape orientation: are wider (horizontal) than they are long (11X 8
1/2)

Orientation choose Portrait or Landscape
