Pics of the Bronco
when I first got it
7/2001
Not exactly an eye-catching backside. Well actually, it
does kind of stick out like a sore thumb?!?
A few add-ons like fog lights, roof lights, stainless
steel grab handles, stereo with four 6x9 speakers
My first incident. One of the old rusty stock axle
u-bolts broke and the axle wandered forward until a bump drove the tire
into the front of the fender and left its mark. 11/2001
After I fixed the above problem and installed 2"
lift blocks and new u-bolts, almost the same dang thing happened on the
other side. But this time the torque of the motor sliced the 'stud' off
the block that held it aligned with the leafs and axle. The axle again
wandered forward but I luckily made it home before it came off
al-together!
Note: the block in the picture that looks like its going to
fall out is actually in the correct position with the springs... its the
axle that wandered ahead.
This is what the above looked like before the tire was
removed.
Don't try this at home! I couldn't get the springs to
spread out enough to fit the stupid spring boosters I bought. So I rigged
up something to spread 'em for me. Take my advice and don't buy the spring
boosters. Instead, get the proper lift designed for your vehicle.
Shows after & before the 2" lift. I wasn't
trying to make it a skyscraper yet, I just didn't like my tires hitting
over big bumps.
The first time I took the top
off I found rusty old red paint. Didn't go well with the silver paint. As
a temporary fix until I replace the 1/4 panels I sanded the edges,
primered and painted with rustoleum (lots of coats). Here
we have a u-joint that decided to tear through its endcaps, and in the
center lane of a 6 lane city road no less. |
