The Nazareth Connection
Excerpt from Home Affairs Editor
Neil Mackay ~ lawyer ~
MORE than 1000 victims of institutionalized abuse
in Scottish children's homes run by churches and charities have accused the Scottish Executive and the First Minister of
insulting and betraying them by refusing to set up a public inquiry into the ill-treatment and sexual assaults they
suffered while in care. Abuse victims petitioned the Executive asking for Scotland to tackle the legacy of abuse
in residential care by priests, nuns and charity staff over recent decades by setting up a public inquiry similar to
ones recently established in Ireland and Australia.
In Ireland, the government apologized
to survivors and set about making financial payments to all victims.
However, Peter Peacock, the minister
for education and young people, has refused to set up any inquiry, saying that he doesn't believe it would meet the
needs of survivors or be in the public interest.
My personal note
**************
Hi
As a survivor of abuse
at two Nazareth House institutions in Scotland I find Mr Peacocks statements patronizing beyond belief how the hell would
he ever know how an individual that had been abused in many forms felt, also why? I would ask Mr Peacock do you people in
the government keep shielding such abusers by not granting the many survivors out here the right to a public inquiry because
believe me you have no idea of the real figures of abuse as the numbers that are banded about is very understated to say the
least and also is just the tip of a very large iceberg Mr Peacock . I would also like to ask Mr Peacock why is the justice system so geared toward the abusers and keeps protecting them but
very little is done for the abused and it begs to me the question especially when the abuse is carried out by Catholic institutions
why do you all bow down in favor to them by helping them through such actions as child abuse by this I mean the politicians,
the justice system as a whole as you have stated here when it is blatantly obvious that they carried out crimes and yes
they were crimes against so many innocent children I ask you Mr Peacock and others that are in such powerful positions please
consider this just listen to the many survivors that are out here, just listen and see the many tears, just look Mr Peacock
and see the many broken hearts that you and your Government have chosen to discard like garbage cans littered around the country
where on earth is you compassion Mr Peacock have you indeed got any compassion in your heart I ask myself well Have YOU? it
appalls and disgusts me every time I hear such comments as you have stated in your statement here, Mr Peacock I ask you what
on earth makes these monsters any different from other individual's who had/have carried out such monstrous actions of
child abuse WHAT? just because they are church people it disgusts me the whole attitude of yourself, judges and sheriffs etc
who let these monsters get away Scott free without taking any responsibility or even to be accountable for their heinous actions
against the many innocent children now adults who endured such appalling abuse metered out to them it makes me feel sick in
the pit of my stomach and so angry Mr Peacock Listen to all of us survivors Mr Peacock and hear and see our many silent tears in my opinion the public has a right to know the full scale of abuse that went on behind these evil gated, walls and
doors and those long corridors in these hellholes we were many of us innocent children put into these monsters "care" this
is the most undesirable word "care" as that is certainly what we never ever received but we were used and so abused.
I wonder if all of you that
seem to hold all the power have any hearts at all because let me tell you many of our surviving hearts keep weeping and bleeding
day after day and night after night where is your compassion Mr Peacock I ask of you just where I speak as a survivor who was abused for many years of my life through no fault of my own HOW DARE YOU BE SO PATRONIZING
MR PEACOCK Grrrrrrrr by your very words you are just re-abusing many of us yet again
as the saying goes something like
this Mr Peacock unless you/they have walked in my shoes you/they have no right to judge and I ask do not dare to judge
me as a survivor of abuse you have not a clue to the suffering that still goes on out here WHY? because you never speak to
any of us to find out or if you do you are so arrogant in your assertion that a public inquiry would open old wounds I would like to just point out to you Mr Peacock might I suggest to you that a public inquiry would in FACT offer us the
opportunity of the many survivor's voices being heard instead of the continual sweeping it under the carpet out
of sight and out of everyones mind well I will tell you Mr Peacock we survivors are here to stay and we will will continue
to shout loudly about the abuse that was suffered by the many of us out here until our voices are heard and we are given
the recognition that we truly deserve I am so appalled by your arrogance and insertions of you know best and your lack of
compassion to us the survivors who in my opinion still each and every day continue to suffer from the abhorrent actions of
child abuse that soooooo very many of us endured with no choice you do have a choice Mr Peacock to stand up and be counted
by taking the right action of authorizing a public inquiry for all the survivors and then you will see and hear the true figures
of institutional abuse rather than the false figures that continue to be banded about they are Mr Peacock in my opinion as
a survivor of child abuse so very much higher
thank you for listening
I say shame on you all shame I do say!!!

MY SOS=SHATTER OUR SILENCE
SOS=Shatter our Silence once and for all
let all of our screams out, let our many tears dry to enable to mend our broken hearts once and for all cause the Catholic
Church have ignored us all for far to long.
We stand united together and strong helping
each other through our pain and sorrow letting us all look forward to brighter tomorrows, and end the misery we survivors
all have endured with our many bitter memories we have of you once and for all.
Many years we did spend in the wilderness
wandering lost and alone we roamed and roamed never ever being heard many words that that we were trying so desperately to
let out by someone who did care these words that were tearing us literally to shreds wanting our voices and broken hearts
just to mend we all beg just to be heard we will stand tall proud and united we will win our fight for abused survivors everywhere.
We shall all unite we shall shout and
shout it all out and we will come together so that we will all share our tears to help and support each other through
our troubled path's giving us all strength and courage to believe in OUR RIGHT FOR JUSTICE
we will remain strong together to overcome
our many obstacles that are constantly put in our path what do we want to hear and shout to shout it out Oh! so loudly that
is our survivor's cry to shatter our silence once and for all out loud and strong to make the Catholic Church and the world
see and hear as we go along and shout out our survivor's song that they MUST hear what we the survivors need and want for
them to hear without any doubt that all we ask is to listen to our survivors cry to hear us from the Catholic Church once
and for all in turn for them to utter these so few words...
"WE ARE VERY SORRY FOR ALL
THE ABUSE THAT HAPPENED
TO EACH ONE OF YOU" ...
Surely this is not so hard for you in the
Catholic Church to do and just give us the survivors hope for all the abuse you did put us all through.
Do you in the Catholic Church not see? what
your abusive action's have done you have left so many broken hearts littered around, like garbage cans by your abusive
actions to all of us so let there be no doubt in your minds as we all gather and unite let us hear these so few words so we
can begin to mend, to heal, from our never ending pain and sorrow literally, we just want to be able to start living our lives
and be happy again.
