Next to Cheddena, some of us have heard her described as 'the best looking of the girls', but to her only daughter who was just eleven years old when Auntie Miri died, she was a loving, kind, gentle, sensitive, fair, nurturing, soft-spoken and quiet person. Julia remembers that her mother appeard passive, but she was really observant, independent, insightful, industrious, positive and self-confident. She had a strong faith in God. She always sang songs of praise and thanksgiving, and served in church and Sunday School. She made time for fun, and the finer things in life - such as they were in those days. Her death came when she was only forty nine. Auntie Miriam died on New Year's Eve of a stroke she had suffered in her sleep a week or so earlier leaving Julia to the care of our Aunt Alene.
