System Requirements

Windows 95/98/98se/ME, Windows 2000, NT 4 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP, iMac under Virtual PC/Win98 or VMWare under Linux

A video card which supports Microsoft Foundation Class graphics. All of the video cards that HSR is aware of support this industry standard. SNG has never failed to run correctly on hundreds of video systems. Request HSR assistance if you are in doubt about your video system. This may allow your system to be validated before you pay the HSR Club membership fee.
SNG runs best at 1600x1200 screen resolution; but, has been extensively tested at 1280x1024, 1152x864, and 1024x768
1024x768 is considered the minimum practical screen resolution for SNG
SNG has been tested and is playable with some inconveniences at 800x600 and even 640x480
Multi-Player interactive play requires a LAN or an Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection to the Internet and DirectX installed
SNG does not include DirectX
A reliable ISP is very important
Modem speed should be at least 14.4kbps. · Firewalls. HSR has documentation for configuring your system to allow SNG to run through a firewall. Also refer to the SNG Forum discussion of SNG and firewall issues

Your system User Name: Your system needs to have a unique/non-generic system 'User Name'. When you submit this 'User Name' to HSR, you will be provided with your own personal HSR Key that will enable all SNG features on your system.
Having a unique system User Name includes having the same User Name as another HSR Club member. If such a conflict occurs, you must be able to set your system with a unique User Name.
Verify that your system User Name is actually what you think it is.
Your system User Name appears in the 'Enter Network Password' dialogue when you start your system. If you do not see this dialogue, you may need to review your Network settings in the Control Panel. Your 'Primary Network Logon' should be 'Client for Microsoft Networks'. WARNING: If you cancel this 'Enter Network Password' dialogue at startup your HSR Key cannot be verified.
Your user name is also available under the 'Start' tray button: Select Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information/On "xxxx" as "user name".
It is also available using regedit.exe by looking under the section: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Network, Logon, Username. Your User Name should not be affected by being part of a fully qualified domain name. However, this has not been verified on many operating systems. Please contact HSR if you feel that SNG is not able to identify your User Name in a domain.
There can be operating systems that alter the case of your User Name; especially when it is part of a fully qualified domain name. The only safe way to obtain your User Name in a form that HSR can use is to rely on the SNG Help/User Name menu item.
The required User Name is case sensitive.
WARNINGS: the following characters in your User Name will cause problems: \ and . . (These two characters are the 'backslash' and the 'period'.) The following characters in your User Name may cause problems: ?, ??, #, [, ], ^, {, |, }, ~, ', ". Also see Windows Help under "characters in file names, restrictions" regarding these characters, which may also cause problems in the User Name: \ / : * ? " < > |
There have been some conflicts between SNG and some security programs that have created difficulties for SNG in getting the User Name. Some of these security programs may take control of providing the system User Name. In these cases, The HSR Key and the SNG/Help/User Name menu do not get your actual User Name. One such security program is Protector2. HSR will try to work with your if such a security program is preventing your from installing your HSR Key.
With the information presented at this web site, you should be able to determine that SNG will run on your system. If you have any doubts, please send HSR a note with your concerns. HSR may be able to send you some tools that will allow you to determine directly if SNG will run on your system.
