Dill Pickles
1 qt. vinegar, white 2 qts. water 1 cup salt Boil together and pour over filled jars. Use 2 sprays dill and 1 small piece of garlic in each jar of pickles. Garlic may be omitted.
Sweet Mustard Pickles
Wash cucumbers. Pour boiling water over them. Let stand until cold. Drain water. 1 qt. vinegar 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tbsp. ground mustard 2 tbsp. salt 1 pinch mixed spices 1/4 tsp. saccharin sugar Pack pickles in jar and pour liquid over them and seal.
Sweet Sour Chunk Pickles
Put cut cucumbers in jars with sliced onion and celery, pour hot syrup on.
4 cups sugar 4 cups vinegar 1/2 cup salt 2 cups water
Good after one month.
Pickled Carrots (sweet)
1 quart vinegar 1 tablespoon whole cloves 1tablespoon allspices 1 tablespoon maceStick cinnamon Boil young carrots until skin slip. Remove skins, slice or leave whole.Pour syrup made of vinegar. sugar and spices(in bag) boiling hot over car- rots. Let stand over night.then bring to boil. and boil 5 minutes. Remove spices and pack into sterilized jars. Fill jar to within 1/2 inch of top with the hot spiced syrup and seal.
