2 cups milk
4 cups cubed bread
1/4 cup butter melted
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Scald milk, and pour over bread cubes. Blend all
other ingredients together and stir into the
bread and milk mixture. Pour into a buttered
casserole dish or pan, about 1 1/2 quart size.
Bake at 350/o for about 45 minutes, or until
knife inserted into the center is clean. This
makes a serving of 6. You can make your favorite
sauce, to pour over top, or serve it plain.
Bread Pudding
3/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs slightly beaten 2 tbsp. butter or margarine 3 cups milk, scaled 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 cup raisins
9 or 10 slices bread, cut into cubes. Combine sugar, salt, flavoring, butter and eggs. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly. Add bread, nutmeg and raisins. Mix thoroughly. Pour into well oiled baking dish. Set in pan of warm water. Bake in 350 degree oven about 1 1/2 hrs. Cool. Serve with whipped cream.
