Road, after American General Stillwell, in
1945.
The film is about Allied campaign in Burma
in World War Two.
Burma was a British colony.
The Japanese invaded Burma in 1942.
American, British and Chinese forces in Burma were
forced to retreat to India.
The Japanese cut the Burma Road, which led through
Burma and China.
From India, the Allies built a road, the Ledo Road,
to connect with the Burma Road.
From India, the Allies flew supplies to China and
flew bombing missions over Japanese positions.
