German Lieutenant-Colonel Viktor von Schweinitz, acting on behalf of Commander-in-Chief of German Army Group C (commanding
the Italian front), Heinrich von Vietinghoff, and Major Eugen Wenner, acting on behalf of Karl Wolf, Schutzstaffel und Polizeiführer
/ SSPF / Protection Squadron and Police Leader, surrendered all German and Italian forces in Italy to British Lt.-Gen. William
H. Morgan, representing Field Marshal Alexander.
Wolf represented also Italian Marshal Rodolfo Graziani, Defence Minister of the Italian Social Republic of Benito Mussolini,
a German puppet state, based in Salo, Italy.
Mussolini was killed by Italian Communist partisans on the previous day, 28 April 1945, near Lake Como in Italy, while
trying to flee to Switzerland.
The surrender was to go into effect at 14:00 on 2 May 1945.

Germany.
Admiral Hans-Georg von Friedeburg, Commander-in-Chief of the German navy (Kriegsmarine), led the German delegation representing
Doenitz:
General Eberhard Kinzel, of Army Group Vistula (remnants of the eastern front); Rear Admiral Gerhard Wagner, of the navy;
Colonel Fritz Poleck, of the armed forces (Wehrmacht); and Major Hans Jochen Friedel, of the army.
Montgomery accepted the surrender as the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander on behalf of Supreme Allied Commander Dwight
Eisenhower.
All German hostilities on land, sea and air were to cease at 08:00hrs, British Double Summer Time on 5 May 1945.

the Soviet Union - met in Potsdam, Germany to
discuss the future.

An ultimatum to Japan to surrender unconditionally
or face destruction
Excerpts:
'We, the President of the United States, the President of the National Government of China and the Prime Minister of Great
Britain, representing hundreds of millions of our countrymen . . .
'We call upon the government of Japan to proclaim now the unconditional surrender of all Japanese armed forces, and to
provide proper and adequate assurances of their good faith in such action. The alternative for Japan is prompt and utter destruction.'
Truman and Churchill issued the proclamation in Potsdam.
Truman sent a copy to Chiang Kai-shek, President of China, by the American ambassador on Chungking, China.
Stalin did not sign the proclamation because the USSR was not yet at war with Japan.
The proclamation was announced over the radio on the evening of 26 July 1945.
Japan did not respond to the ultimatum.

The River Kwai of the story is actually the
Mae Nam Klong, or the Mae Klong, and flows
south through the town of Tha Maka in
Kanchanaburi Province in western Thailand.
Its source is to the north.
The bridge in the story is in Tha Maka.
The river is also known as the Kway Yai,
the Big Tributary. A smaller tributary,
called the Kway Noi, Little Tributary,
flows into the river from the west in
the town of Kanchanaburi, south of the
bridge.
Kway is pronounced with a long a.
From the juncture of the two rivers,
or tributaries, the river is known
solely as the Mae Klong, or Mae Nam
Klong. It flows south into the Gulf
of Thailand at Samut Songkram.
A big POW camp was in Tha Maka.
The original bridge was built of
concrete. The Japanese used POWs
for labour. After the war,
Japanese civil engineers built
the steel bridge of today.

Irvine is pronounced Er - vin. The accent is on
the first syllable. The second i is a short vowel.
Irvine and his legendary climbing partner, George
Leigh Mallory, set out from their high camp on
the north side of Mount Everest, in Tibet, for
the mountain summit on the morning of 8 June
1924.
They did not return.
Mallory and Irvine were the first British climbers
to die on Everest.
The next climbing expedition, also British, nine
years later, in 1933, found an ice axe belonging
to Mallory or Irvine high up on Everest.
Mallory and Irvine climbed with oxygen. In 1991,
an American climber spotted an oxygen cylinder
from the 1924 expedition a short distance further
up the mountain.
In 1999, an international expedition found
Mallory's intact body high up on the mountain -
but well below the sites of the ice axe and
oxygen cylinder.
Mallory's body was at the bottom of a large
sloping snow and ice field. Mallory fell a short
distance. He died at the spot, immobile, shortly
after the fall.
Mallory was near the ledge of a steep 7,000-metre
cliff above the Rongbuk Glacier.
Mallory was not far from camp.
Mallory and Irvine may have experienced a problem
with their oxygen supply while climbing.
They dropped or abandoned an ice axe.
They fell as they headed for their camp.
The climbing rope was wound tightly around
Mallory's waist, indicating that he was
tied to Irvine when he fell. He was the
lead climber and fell first.
The old nylon rope snapped or was cut during
the fall.
Irvine tumbled after Mallory and came to rest
nearby - or he went over the ledge and
dropped to the glacier below.
In September 2024, a team of photographers,
preparing a documentary film about skiing on
Mount Everest for National Geographic Magazine,
found by chance the partial remains of Irvine
on the West Rongbuk Glacier, at the base of the
mountain.
A drone operated by the team drone operator
spotted an old leather hobnail boot on a
section of bare earth of a crevasse of the
glacier.
The snow and ice had thawed a week or so before,
leaving the boot exposed.
In the boot were a sock (with a name tag: A. C.
IRVINE) and a left foot.
The presence of goraks / Himalayan ravens
indicated the recent appearance of the foot
from the melting ice.
The remains were recovered from the West
Rongbuk Glacier, also called the Main Rongbuk
Glacier - NOT the East Rongbuk Glacier.
Climbing expeditions usually approach the
North Face by the East Rongbuk Glacier.
Climbers seldom approach the mountain by the
West Rongbuk Glacier.
The location of the find, reported by the
photographers, indicated that Irvine fell
from the North Face of the mountain to the
West Rongbuk Glacier.
Exactly when Irvine fell - and his body
broke up - are uncertain.
His remains traveled down the glacier over
time.
More human remains, clothing and climbing
equipment could be in the snow and ice nearby.
On-the-spot investigation might turn up more
traces of Irvine.

Burma was a federal democracy.
The Burmese held nation-wide elections in 2020.
On the day that the elected politicians and
officials were to assume their positions in
government, in February 2021, the Burmese
military staged a coup. Many elected
officials were arrested. Many fled for
their lives. The military took over the
government.
In response to the military coup, the elected
officials, in hiding, formed the National Unity
Government (NUG) (in 2021).
Generally, the Burmese accept the NUG as the
legitimate government.
The Junta can claim that it controls only 40
per cent of Burma. Ethnic armies, unified in
their resistance to the Junta and in their
support for a federal democracy, control
the rest.
The N. U. G. maintains that the Rohingya of Arakan
are Burmese citizens and have the right to return
from forced exile abroad.

THE THAI-CAMBODIAN BORDER CONFLICT

The area today known as Thailand was first
inhabited by the Semang (Negritos).
Then came the Malayo-Polynesians / the Cham.
Then came the Mon - Khmer, around 900 B. C. /
B. C. E. Generally, the Mon appeared first.
Many ancient temples in Thailand were built
by the Mon. The Khmers later built upon the
same sites. Later, the Tais rebuilt the sites.
The ruins of some old temples in Thailand
have a Mon foundation and Khmer and Tai
superstructures.
Indians and Tamils from India appeared around
A. D. 100.
Chinese traders appeared around A. D. 500.
They came by sea.
The Tai, descending from the north, came
much later, around A. D. 1000.
PRASAT SDOK KOK THOM, THA MEUN THOM,
TA SAWAI and PRE VIHEAR are famous ancient
Khmer Hindu temples on the Thai - Cambodian
border. Both Thailand and Cambodia claim
the temples.
Today, the Thais are the caretakers of
Sdok Kok Thom and Tha Meun Thom. The
Cambodians have not objected. But this
can change in an instant.
The Thais restored (rebuilt) Sdok Kok
Thom about fifteen years ago.
Archeological restoration of Tha Meun Thom,
which was begun by the Thais long ago, has
been on hold for decades. A Thai soldier
is the caretaker. Cambodian soldiers are
posted a few yards from the temple, on the
trail into Cambodia. Khmers living on both
sides of the border take the trail to
visit relatives. Delegations of Thai and
Cambodians visit Tha Meun Thom frequently.
Ta Sawai is patrolled by Thai soldiers.
In 2010, land mines were just a metre or
so from the temple of Ta Sawai. Mines
were in the jungle forests around Tha Meun
Thom and the trail into Cambodia. Before
Sdok Kok Thom was restored, the temple
grounds were de-mined. But mines remained
in the ground beside the temple complex
and 'barai' (water tank). Grazing buffalo
in the nearby fields occasionally tripped
mines.
Both countries claim Pre Vihear but for
the present the matter is not argued. The
temple is in Cambodia. But some of the
land about the temple is contested.
There are many temple ruins along the
border.
Thai and Cambodian archeologists hope to
excavate the temples together, probably
with French archeologists.
THAI CAMBODIAN BORDER DISPUTE

Province of Thailand), on 28 May 2025.
Thai soldiers objected.
The Thai and Cambodian soldiers fought a ten-minute
shoot-out. One Cambodian soldier was killed.
The Thai PM is Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
Paetongtarn is a daughter of the controversial
ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
He was elected in 2001 and toppled by a
military coup in 2006.
The PM's aunt, Yingluck Shinawatra, was PM
for a while too. She was toppled by a military
coup in 2014.
Paetongtarn once worked at a McDonald's in
Bangkok.
After the borer shoot-out, Paetongtarn, as
the Thai PM, called the former Cambodian PM,
Hun Sen, who is the father of the present
Cambodian PM, on 5 June (June 15?), to
discuss the matter.
The telephone call was leaked to the public
and caused controversy in Thailand. There
were big protests against the PM, Paetongtarn.
A court suspended the PM from office.
There were more protests.
There was talk of the army stepping in.
A Khmer temple was NOT directly involved in the dispute.

the Gaza Strip in 1967 in the 'Six-Day War'.
The West Bank, eastern Jerusalem and the Gaza
Strip are occupied by Israel. The Israelis
want to force the Palestinians out.

Noa Argamani, an Israeli, age 26, born in 1997, of an Ashkanazi father and a Chinese mother from Wuhan, was
the best known of the hostages kidnapped in Israel
and held in Gaza.
The kidnapping of Noa and her boyfriend / partner,
Avinatan Or, on 7 October 2023, was recorded on video
by the kidnappers and shown by the media the most often.
The four hostages spent 246 days in captivity.

In this video, Israeli soldiers (actually policemen) shoot their way into a building and into an upstairs apartment and
find the three men who are held hostage in one room.
During their entire eight months of captivity, the three men were held in the one locked room in one apartment in one
building.
In the video, the three men run from the house in bare sox as an Israeli soldier (policeman) provides covering fire.
The three rescued hostages and the policemen fled in a car while under fire. The car was destroyed. A second car was called
and took them to the beach (immediately south of the U. S. pier). They were accompanied by eight soldiers, at a run, across
the beach to a waiting helicopter. The helicopter flew 42 nautical miles north up the coast to Ramat Gan, a district of the
city of Tel Aviv, and boarded a waiting bus to Sheba Hospital.

The rescue was a joint-operation, called 'Seeds of Summer', with the police, IDF special forces, and Israel Internal Security
(Shin - Bet).
The U. S. was not directly involved. The U. S. routinely shares 'intelligence' with Israel, like drone images and communication
intercepts.
Shortly before the rescue attempt, the IDF launched a planned attack on sites just to the east of al-Nuiserat. This attack
was - or was not - a planned diversion, to mislead and lull the kidnappers.
The commander of the operation was shot and wounded in a gunfight as he entered the apartment that held the three hostages.
The operation was renamed after him.
The two buildings that held the hostages were three stories high.
Armed locals attacked the rescue mission as it left the scene. The IDF fired back with the air strikes. Civilians were
killed.

in his prison cell in Florida.

The thirteen British colonies, meeting in
Philadelphia, declared their independence
from England in 1776.
In the War of Independence, the colonies -
the Continental Army - with French support
defeated the British forces at the Battle
of Yorktown in 1781.
The Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia
drafted the Constitution in 1787.
The Constitution went into effect in 1789,
creating a federal republic, the United States.
The first capital of the United States was in
New York City. The federal capital was New
York City.
Thus, George Washington, the first president
(1789 - 1797), resided in New York City.
In 1789, the office of the president was in
the federal capital, New York City.
Washington moved twice in NYC.
The federal capital was moved from NYC to
Philadelphia in 1790.
Thus, Washington moved his office to
Philadelphia.
The office of John Adams, the second
president (1797 - 1801), was in
Philadelphia.
Washington chose the site for a permanent
capital, which was named after him, on the
Potomac River, in the state of Maryland -
across the river from Virginia.
When the new site for the capital was being
prepared, Adams moved into the executive
mansion there.
The executive mansion, where the president
would live and keep his office, was completed
in 1800.
Its first occupant was John Adams, the second
U. S. president. It is the site of the
executive mansion today.
Thomas Jefferson, the third president (1801 -
1809), and James Madison, the fourth president
(1809 - 1817), lived in the executive mansion
in Washington.
The British army destroyed the executive mansion
in 1814 during the War of 1812.
The executive mansion was rebuilt from 1815 to
1817. Its first occupant was James Monroe,
the fifth president (1817 - 1825). This is the
executive mansion of today.
President Theodore Roosevelt (1901 - 1909)
called the executive mansion the 'White House'
and made it the official name in 1901.

Virginia Giuffre (married name) was born Virginia Roberts in California in August 1983.
Virginia Roberts got a job as a spa attendant at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in West Palm Beach, Florida from her father,
Sky William Roberts, who was maintenance manager at Mar-a-Lago, in 2000. She was age 16.
In the neighbourhood, there lived Jeffrey Epstein, a Jewish American fraudster, con-man, pimp, procurer and paedophile.
Epstein managed to teach college and trade stocks for a big brokerage firm without any credentials.
Epstein had a British Jewish girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of Robert Maxwell (born Ján Ludvík Hyman Binyamin
Hoch in Czechoslovakia), British press mogul, swindler and embezzler. Robert Maxwell died in a reported accident at sea in
1991.
There were questions about the death of Robert Maxwell. He disappeared from his yacht while at sea. His body was recovered.
His death was ruled an accidental drowning.
But many believed he committed suicide or he was murdered, perhaps on the orders of MOSSAD / Israeli covert operations.
Virginia Roberts met Ghislaine Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago in 2000 or 2001. She was age 17.
Maxwell took Virginia Roberts to meet Prince Andrew in Donald Trump's club in London in March 2001. Virginia Roberts was
age 17. At the time, the age of consent in England was 16.
Maxwell took Roberts to meet Andrew again, in Epstein's apartment in New York City, in April 2001. Roberts was 17. The
age of consent in New York was 17.
Virginia Roberts flew with Andrew later to Epstein's private island in the U. S. Virgin Islands. She was 17 or 18. The
age of consent there was 16.
Virginia Roberts was above the age of consent on all three occasions with Prince Andrew.
According to Virginia Roberts, she was paid by Maxwell for having sex with Andrew (afterwards).
Epstein was arrested in Palm Beach in 2006 for soliciting prostitution.
In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to two state prostitution charges and sentenced to 18 months in the county jail.
Epstein was arrested again, on trafficking charges, in New York City, on 6 July 2019.
Epstein was found hanged in a New York City prison cell in on 10 August 2019.
There were many questions about the death of Epstein. Many believe he did not commit suicide but was murdered on the orders
of someone to whom Epstein and Maxwell procured girls.
Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in 2020 sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022. She was transferred from prison in Florida
to prison in Texas in 2025.
Roberts met an Australian 'martial arts conditioner', Robert Giuffre, in Thailand in 2002. The couple married and raised
a family in Australia.
The couple separated in 2023 or 2024.
Virginia Giuffre died after a car accident in April 2025. However, there was a report that she committed suicide.
Andrew is not the first British royal to fall from favour. In 2005, Prince Harry, second son of Prince Charles, the Prince
of Wales, appeared at a masquerade party in Denmark in a Nazi outfit. Harry has been in the doghouse ever since. Harry claims
that he wore the Nazi outfit at the suggestion of his older brother, William, and his brother's wife, Kate Middleton.
The royal family of England have had a German connection since 1714 when Prince George I, Elector of Hanover, was brought
to England to be king. In England, George and his descendants were known as the House of Hanover. Victoria, Queen of England
from 1837 to 1901, was a granddaughter of King Geroge III. Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in
1840. Their descendants were known as the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Anti-German sentiment before and during the Great
War compelled King George V to change the name of the royal family from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor in 1917.
King Edward VIII of England abdicated in 1936, after a few months on the throne, to marry a commoner, an American divorcee.
But many believe he was forced out by the British for pro-Nazi or pro-German activities, which he continued as the Duke of
Windsor from exile on the Continent during the war in France in 1940.

Princess Elizabeth married Philip Mountbatten, a nephew of Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten, in 1947.
Lord Louis was born Prince Louis of Battenberg in 1900. He was the son of Prince Louis of Battenberg and Princess Victoria
of Hesse and by Rhine.
Battenberg is in Hesse - Darmstadt, Germany.
Prince Louis of Battenberg was head of the British admiralty but strong anti-German sentiment in England forced him to
resign two months into the Great War in 1914.
At the suggestion of King George V, Prince Louis changed the name of his family from Battenberg to Mountbatten in 1917.
The first child of Prince Philip Mountbatten and Princess Elizabeth was Prince Charles, born in 1948.
King George VI died on 6 February 1952. His daughter, Princess Elizabeth, wife of Philip Mountbatten, inherited the throne
as Queen Elizabeth II.
Elizabeth declared in a Royal Proclamation on April 9, 1952 that she and her children would retain the name of Windsor.
The royal family remained the House of Windsor.
There were questions also about the German connections of other members of the royal family.
