The Genetic Engineering Congressional Hearing and Session is an event in which six groups representing different organizations and institutions will give testimony in regards to their position and findings of a specific topic in genetic engineering. Their audience will be United States senators representing their appropriate states. At the end of the congressional hearing, a congressional session will be held to determine the fate of the bill. For which Senate Bill (S.B.) will I be preparing? -Should genetically-engineered crops be researched, produced and sold in the United States? -Should the United States encourage and fund cloning research of plants, animals, and humans? -Should the United States encourage and fund the production of viable human organs in animals and test tubes? -Should the United States encourage and fund embryonic stem cell research and therapy for medicinal reasons? What is my role in this Congressional Hearing and Session? You will be part of a group that will prepare an argument for or against a Senate Bill. The Senate Bill will be debated and voted on by Senators of various U.S. states (members of a different class).
