Nov. 19th...
Michael is doing fantastic. His blood counts are all good and he is fighting a cold that he has had for a bit with no problems. We are down in Cheo on Tuesday the 21st for his second last lumbar puncture and you can bet that he is counting those...
.
The biggest issues that we have to deal with is that fact that he is a picky eater and he also has a bit of a discipline problem... we say no and he says yes and does it anyways. Trying to decide what is actually normal for a 6 year old boy is hard as we have 2 older girls to compare to.... so we just deal day by day with this. He is also showing problems at school now. His printing and reading are below standards and we are trying very hard to have him identified at school so that he can get the help he needs as he is so frustrated right now.
This weekend we heard the bad news that a boy he knew at cheo that lives near us passed away on Friday. Michael couldn't understand this because he had a bone marrow transplant and his cancer was gone. Trying to explain rejection issues to him was difficult so we had to say that his body was just too tired to keep working from all he had been through.
Lately there are too many sad things in his little life.... he lost a friend at cheo this fall and then 2 weeks later his friend across from the road was killed with his parents in a tragic car accident. And now this other boy. Very difficult...
But Michael is feeling well and going to school every day.. actually he runs the full kilometer to and from school every am, lunch and returning from school.... quite the active little guy...
