The first thing you should know is that if you were raped or sexually assaulted it was not your fault.

It may seem very hard to talk about your assault right now. There are people who will believe and help you. They have heard your story in a hundred different forms and are familiar with what you are going through. Please call a hotline and talk to a counselor. If you are not comfortable with that then please visit one of the online support groups. You will be anonymous and find that thousands of women share your feelings and experiences. You are not alone.

You can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline, operated by

RAINN, 24 hours a day at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673). You can also search for your local rape crisis center.
