Rape Crisis Information Pathfinder
Online Resources and Hotlines

Welcome to a safe place for healing.
This pathfinder contains information on how to heal from the trauma of rape and sexual assault. Please choose one of the above topics (or scroll down) to learn more.
Message boards are recommended as a good first step.  The other members of online support groups can answer your questions and help you feel less alone.

Are you in crisis right now?
You can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline, operated by
RAINN, 24 hours a day at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673), or you can
search for your local rape crisis center.
For local rape crisis centers and hotlines please click here or scroll down.  For information on finding books and journal articles about healing click here.

The first thing you may want to do is search for your local rape crisis center or hotlines.  Please write them down or print them out.  Sometimes local hotline operators are more relaxed and have more time to talk.  Feel free to request to speak to a woman.  There is also emergency information on self injury, suicide and reaching out.  You will need to find a therapist to work through your trauma.  Instructions on how to seek therapy can be found on the RAINN website or here.  For information on ptsd, ocd, date rape drugs and other related topics look at the subjects listed above.

This site is a rape and sexual assault information pathfinder. In the past I have always needed to find local rape crisis centers, phone numbers and directions in moments of crisis. You may want to book mark this page if you think you might need any of this information for someone else. The main features of this site are the organized catagories of web sites on rape and sexual assault. After several years of posting on message boards I had a fair idea of what questions people ask. I am able to answer many of them from the websites I have listed here (without searching all over the web every time). I hope it helps you guys answer some questions too.

Introduction and scope

Introduction and scope of the rape crisis information pathfinder:

This pathfinder is for rape victims and their loved ones who are trying to heal and seeking resources to do so. Most rape victims suffer from ptsd, ocd and eating disorders. The bulk of the information is found under online resources. The most up to date and useful sources tend to be online. The biographies are also a good source of healing and catharsis. What happens to a person in the aftermath of rape can make all the difference in the amount of post traumatic stress disorder one suffers in years to follow. Resources change quickly in a world of date rape drugs and general ignorance by the mainstream. You are not alone. The more you understand about what you are going through the more quickly the sharpness will become softer. Many other people have experienced this trauma and what they have learned can help guide you in your healing path.
This pathfinder contains information for people who live where this pathfinder was created (Chapel Hill, NC.) as well as a large number of links to online information available primarily in the U.S.
