Beagle
A small sturdy hound developed for hunting small game. It has straight legs, a deep chest, and an upright tail. The short smooth coat is usually white with large areas of black and tan. The head has large eyes, drooping ears, and a strong muzzle. Beagles make excellent hunters of squirrel, pheasant, and the cottontail rabbit. Unless they are called off by the handler, the dogs will follow their quarry until it has gone to earth or has been caught. The beagle was imported by the United States from England in th 1870's.
This beagle page is dedicated to Clyde (whose picture is up there) and Bullet. The dogs of my friend, Andrea.
