Lhasa Apso
A small, long-haired dog used in China as a guard dog. Its coat, which is hard and ense, falls heavily over its eyes and almost hides its legs. Its hanging ears and curled tail, which is carried over its back, are also covered by long hair. The coat colors range from gold, sand, and honey to black, white and various mixtures. It is believed that the breed existed in Tibet more than 800 years ago. It was brought to the United States in 1934. Lhasa Apsos make excellent watchdogs.
